Racing Brake E82 2 Piece Rotors Pre-order

I recently approached Racing Brake about their F&R 2pc rotor kit for our cars. Interestingly they have changed the front rotor to be able to accommodate the OE pads.

They need at least 5 people total to commit to a pre-order on the front rotor to bring the kit back to regular production. RB is offering 10% off the price for pre-orders.

We (buyers) would be looking at about a 8-10 week lead time.

Since it's specific for this application only so we need at least five 135i owners commit to the pre-orders in order to make them available

Link to general kit info: http://www.racingbrake.com/RB-Iron-R...bmw-irk-06.htm

These 2pc rotors allow you to retain the OE parking brake, and save ~20lbs of unsprung weight, about 5lbs per rotor. They make ring replacements which saves cost at next rotor change. All the relevant info is in the above link.

Respose from RB about the rear rotor size needing the Mitsubishi Evo X pad rather than the OE 135i pad.

But we never done that to impair this safety feature.

Wider disc annulus to fit the OE pad is not possible as it's constrained to the emergency drum brake @185mm and smaller rotor OD @322mm

This design is reviewed and approved by RB Engineering to assure a narrower pad is more than adequate even for track racing, while you can actually find more pad compound choice from EVO10 than 135i application.

I can assure you that you can never find a 2nd choice for this 135i rear two piece that is built so solid other than RB.

Update on RB 2pc rear rotor construction.

Recd an inquiry as forwarded below for your info.

Due to rotor casting consideration, the rear has a change on disc size @335x28, we re-check OE set up and determined the actual pad contact is only 334mm (vs. OE rotor's 338), so 335mm should fit well and can eliminate rusty lip on rotor edge like OE.

Please refer to the dwg below in case you want to update your post to keep the thread going.

Here's the list. Let's do this.

I'll ask, but I don't think so. Something about it clearing the parking shoes.

I have the oe size RB replacement rotors and pads on all 4 corners. It shaved something like 22lbs of total rotational weight. I recently did a 1/2 mile racing event and had no issues with the pads/rotors warping or cracking after 20+ runs hitting 160mph and slowing down. I think for the weight savings alone this setup is well worth the money.

Thanks for the quick review! I haven't heard anything but glowing praise of these rotors.

Want to switch to the new fronts?

I'm interested. Before committing, just wanted to make sure I'm understanding this right. To make them work we need evo 10 pads in the rear? But can we use upgraded pads all around like hawk ht 10s?

Thanks for any help. These look like an awesome way to save unsprung weight!

You will be able to use whatever OE 135i pad in the front and any evo x pad in the rear.

RB on their pad selections. I will definitely be going with their offered street pads first, then go from there.

Unless a consumer really knows what he wants (more for track people), I highly suggest they take this bundle package (including RB XT910 spirited pads), I am sure 'Newguy123 can testify how good these RB pads are (for HPDE and spirited driving), you can also check EVO forum and know RB street pads is on the top list of EVO 8/9/10 owners' choice.

We don't sell a lot on our pads, nor the pad sales matters to us, rather we want our pads be bundled with brake rotors so customers can expect to have an optimal result with a new braking experience on RB brakes like this Mercedes SL550 customer.

Why this MB customer was so happy with RB pads? by reading more you will also learn where made him know us.

Racing Brake makes me happy

Pay attention to a user's comment about XT910's "very liner" modulation and consistent in brake torque.

Thanks for reading and sharing.
