If you car is under 8yrs old/100k miles, check the California Emissions Warranty out
Just a reminder to read the fine print especially if your car is under 100k and 8 years old and originally a California car and/or registered in NY, NJ, PA, WA, MD, CT, CA, MA, PA, RI, VT and OR. Some models however have 7yr/70,000 for this extended coverage so be mindful of that.
I just saved myself a bunch of time and/or money having Valve Cover Gasket replaced under warranty. I knew it was leaking and took it in fully aware this was a covered component and not wanting to have to DIY this. The dealership got back to me and told me it does not apply to me because the car is not SULEV. False. I had to send over a copy of the 2013 Warranty Booklet (available for download from BMW site) to show them there are two separate but related policies. 10 minutes later "You are correct, this is fully covered." $179 inspection fee waived. $1400+ repair bill saved. This was covered thanks to the California Emissions Control Warranty (not the SULEV version) which extends to subsequent owners AND is reciprocal for all vehicles registered in California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont or Washington. You should also know all of the major parts this covers too if it applies to you such as HPFP, Turbo, and intercooler, Intake manifold, exhaust manifold, TCM, Vanos, Valvetronic motor, Fuel level sensor/filler/tank, ECM...and some others. If you even remotely suspect an issue, it may be worth the inspection fee if something on the list could be the culprit and covered. Last edited by blacksh33p; 09-30-2020 at 11:09 AM.. |
