Leaving Drivers Seat Disconnected With Battery Connected??
Hello all,
Looking for some feedback about complications I might encounter with this idea. I'm planning to use my E82 135i's driver side sport seat to mount to the DIY sim base I'm currently building. Doing this because my car is just sitting stored, on a battery tender, in my garage for the winter since lockdown gives me no need for a car. I'm wondering though if leaving the seat unplugged while the car still has power will cause any issues. I've heard that leaving the vehicle powerless and charging the battery outside of the car isn't good for the sensitive electronics and may cause issues since I am storing the car until at least April of 2021. With all that said, just to summarize, I'm looking for input on whether or not it's a good idea to leave my driver seat unplugged while the car sits in my garage and still has power, so that I can use it in my sim setup. Thanks for the help in advance, appreciate it!

Well I'm a really old guy and have no idea what you're talking about. Mine sits all winter on a Deltran battery maintainer and has been for last 9 winters.

I can't think of anything bad that could happen. You are taking something away, not adding. So no chance something would get shorted out, etc.
I could see the car getting mad though, and throwing codes of some sort. I would think they'd go away once the seat was restored though. Or at worst could be erased easily. Just thinking out loud. |
