Unable to Reset Service Lights

Car is a 08 128i auto and is stock as far as I'm aware. Has around 116k on it currently with no active warning lights. Only persistent codes are CF17 and CF19 which have been there the whole time I've owned the car. Likely related to the following.

The DME does report back as a 09 328 with a VIN that DOES NOT match my 1's, all other modules report my 1's vin.
I have no driving related issues. When I got the car about a year ago, it had some unrelated codes which I've addressed. Car runs and drives perfectly. No engine/trans problems. Everything functions in the car aside from cruise control.

I can not reset any of the service lights, like the oil or brake pads. Ive attempted resets with Protool, Bimmer link or code and through the car itself. I did read somewhere that sometimes it locks you out and it requires 30 attempts to actually reset it. That did not work. I have not tried INPA or similar, because I dont feel comfortable with it and don't wanna risk issues.

Any ideas? I know not using INPA isn't helping.
