S55 Oil Pan Swap - Power Steering Pump Brackets
Hey guys,
After following a bunch of threads on S55 pan swaps I designed a set of brackets that mount the PS pump, allowing an S55 pan to be fitted to N55 cars. An aluminum billet bracket is doweled to the AC compressor to ensure belt alignment, and a stainless weldment bolts to an unused block hole in the rear. I designed them using some laser scans of an N55/S55 pans and components. I fitted them to my 2012 DCT 135i in May 2024 and have been daily-ing it with occasional track day use as well with no complaints for over 10k miles now. Install is pretty easy, especially if you're already in there doing rod bearings, although DCT cars need to run new lines to the cooler (not hard with an amazon AN fitting kit and some hose). PPK cars need to move the crossover coolant pipe slightly as well. I'm thinking of making a run and wanted to gauge interest, not sure what pricing would be yet since it would depend on quantity. Let me know if it's something you'd be interested in or if you have any questions, thanks! |

Anyone successfully don this on a N54? If there's a way I'd for sure be in. I'm running accucump but this would be a bonus.

I haven't heard of it myself but I know the N54/N55 oil pans are the same (so PS pump is in the same spot) and the oil pumps look similar. No idea how close the blocks are and if they have the holes needed for the scavenge pump/brackets.

I’ve been following your thread regarding the CNC bracket for the S55 oil pan swap on E-chassis N55 cars. I’m currently on my third motor after spinning rod bearings again, and I’m desperate to do the S55 oiling conversion properly this time.
I have an E92 N55 with hydraulic power steering and I cannot do custom fabrication, so your bracket is exactly what I need. Do you have any kits currently in stock, or are you planning a production run soon? I am ready to purchase as soon as one is available. Please let me know the pricing and how you'd like to handle payment/shipping. |

I loosely remember the pan itself needing to be modified to put on a N54. Hydra Performance has done it on their development car.

I just sent the billet parts to anodizing yesterday, stainless parts are being welded currently. I should have the available before the end of the month. I think I'll be posting them on my shopify site which makes payment/fulfillment easy for everyone.
Link will be provided when they're ready! ShocknAwe, I'll take a look into that! Hadn't come across them. |

Tremendous. I am interested, have a 6 speed manual.
To those spinning bearings -- get a tune to up oil pressure. The variable pump and oil pressure table on the DME is too low, especially in tuned cars (too much torque, not enough oil pressure to keep the "pillow" of oil b/w the rod bearings and journals. Search this up, there is a thread on the f30 forum in this site. A gentlemen from Australia found the cheat code. If you up the pressure and do the S55 retrofit, I'd bet bearing starvation would be fully mitigated in most circumstances. Track guys running r comps would need a baffle and perhaps Accusump for full insurance. Not a cheap date. |

N54 and N55 definitely share the same pan. Aside from the PS pump solution above, it has to be something else in play that makes this more challenging in the N54 and I'm thinking this might be subframe interference. I'll keep digging as I'd love to do this. I'm also considering a possible S55 full engine swap so I'll be up against this either way.
