Slightly more mileage, 37k VS 35k on my 2011, but it has all of the packages I wanted as well as DCT. Overall I'm extremely happy. I think DCT is a much better match for the chassis and engine, and my new one also has PPK1!
Congrats tock172! Hope you got a good deal. Yeah, I like the DCT as well. How are you liking the pops and crackles of PPK? You can add the PE if you want it deeper with more volume.
Thanks! I'm glad to say I negotiated a very fair deal which I'm quite pleased with. The added exhaust noise from the PPK is incredible. I gave it few revs in neutral before I put the car in the garage for the night, and may have awoken some neighbors.

I've already swapped most of my important things over to the new car. Friday I'll have my 225/255 PSS put on the 2012 as well. I've got a lengthy to-do list of stuff, but I'm enjoying all of it!
Yeah, I still have all my PPK sounds even though I got the Dinan tune. I guess Dinan doesn't overwrite the PPK exhaust overrun feature. Love the sound - it makes us act like kids. Haha

So what are you're plans for your 2011 135i? Also, are you still planning on getting a 911?

Excellent to hear. I'd love the Dinan muffler and their S2 software.

Most likely going to sell it, though I may hang onto it for a bit. It's an excellent car and I've got some good equity in it, but I don't see myself using it much, if at all now, and I consider it a bit foolish to own two extremely similar cars simultaneously. Still shooting for a 911 in the future. The 2012 135i I just bought initially appeared at the dealer in October, then last Friday I saw the price lowered significantly and I simply couldn't resist checking it out. The Performance Driving Event I did at the Thermal Club sold me on DCT. This is BMW #7 for me. Perhaps I'm more of an addict than I'd like to admit.

Nice purchase, Tock! Did you just really want the DCT?

Also, I put the car cover on my 1er and stored it away for the winter. Sad night last night. I'm going to miss driving my 1 for 4 months.

Anyone got any exhausts they recommend other than PPK (nothing against it just wanting options) to step up the volume and notes just a little over stock?

The golf tee mod is free and easy to do if you want "just a little over stock." I did it and there is a noticeable difference in volume in the cabin.

N54 and N55 have different mid pipes and sound, but they both sound very good with the Performance exhaust, which consists of a y-pipe and a muffler. You could install just one of them and then decide what to do next. That's what I'd do, personally. Look around in the exhaust & engine section, plenty of info there.

I've got the same basic exhaust criteria and am shopping for a Berk Street. After that I'll probably go with the N55 mids if I want a touch more.

I'm biased, but my setup is quiet and aggressive all at the same time. Perfect IMO.

There are lots of threads on this, but will it help the N55 sound a bit better? Simple and free is good!

Thanks for the replies. I bought mine CPO until April 2019 or 100K, so would doing any mods or exhaust work void that?

Emmm guys are we getting confused here?

PPK = Performance Power Kit (BMW tune)
PE = Performance Exhaust (axle-back can)

Honestly it depends on your dealer - any Genuine BMW stuff like the PPK tune or BMW Performance Exhaust should be 100% ok. A JB4 or aftermarket exhaust will almost definitely void the warranty.

I'll do the Golf Tee Mod this weekend, just because I haven't yet and it looks easily reversible.
But I'd be more interested a system that sounds mostly stock at low rpm/light throttle, but like the Corsa exhaust at high rpm/WOT. But not add highway drone, be too loud, or cost an arm and a leg.
Is that too much to ask?

Yeah that's asking a lot lol. Your best best overall would be the BMW PE I'd say. But super expensive.

Once I have some spare time/cash I'll be doing an electric cutout right before the axle-back. Costs around $300 for everything and will be super loud when I want it and mellow when I don't.

After reading for a little bit PPK sounds like just the reasonable cost type upgrade I am looking for. Now if only I could find someone who wanted to trade 261M wheels for 313M wheels I would be sitting pretty.

Thanks!

Than you sir! It wasn't just DCT, but it was a large factor. Premium HK sound along with enhanced BT were big motivators, along with the overall condition of the car which is quite nice.

For the money, it's hard to rule out the BMW PE. For a bit more, you can get the Dinan exhaust. I think both of them offer a nice increase, without being too verbose or attention drawing.

I've had the PE on my car since 2011 and I think it has a great sound that's only gotten better with age. Nice sporty tone and I personally get no drone to speak of. The BMW PE is quiet when cruising but wakes up when you accelerate.

True, it's a little pricey, but it's made well and fits perfectly. There are a lot of choices and there are definitely louder exhausts out there if that's what one would prefer. I'm happy with the PE and would get it again.
