Yeah, same with mine. Buy a Ctek charger and give your battery a full charge once a week or whenever you're not using the car for a few days.

If problems persist, you may be due for a new battery.

If you're on your original battery; you need a new battery.

I get this too. Once I put it on the ctek charger, It goes away. FYI, I hook it up under the hood & run the cable out near the windshield so hood can close completely.

I'm having the same issue. I'm on my original battery, so am planning to replace.

Does anyone have the current part number for the correct battery?
According to RealOEM,
the part # is 61217553951, but I'm not able to find that anywhere online or what it's been replaced with.

Also, does anyone have experience with Costco's battery program? Prices seem quite reasonable and they always have excellent service so I'd be amenable to buying a battery through them and having it installed/registered at the dealer.

Thanks!

I have the same thing few months back because I've been driving my GT3 to add miles during the break in procedure, so the 1M been sitting in the garage for couple of months, but since I've been driving it past months or so, that warning lights goes away and haven't came back. I do have a charger, but opt out of using it unless necessary. So go out and just drive it, and don't garage it, your battery will slowly drain if you don't drive it, but not dead.

I have been driving it, that is what is confusing me a bit. I did have a 3-5 day window where I moved it, washed it, moved it back, then moved it again, without driving it more, also conditioned leather with doors opened. I put 50 miles on it yesterday, so going to check it out later today....

I find the same thing - I do 1/2 of driving on average per day, but still have to top the battery up at least once a month with the charger to avoid that warning on the dash. I got the car second hand, so I don't know how old the battery is; but I expect the BMW doesn't turn its self off completely so things like comfort access or accessories that are still plugged in drain the battery more than in a 'normal' car. The cheapest way to fix it is to ignore it (assuming you park in a place where mains power is available), and top the battery up with a charger.

Otherwise, the first step is 'diagnosis by treatment' - replace your battery with a new one of the biggest capacity you can fit.

Also, it's generally not a problem with our cars since the battery is so well protected - but before you suspect anything else, it'd be worth checking your battery terminals connectors are tight, clean and making good contact.

Only after you've done all that and in the very unlikely event that you're still getting the problem with daily driving and a new battery, then I'd suspect the alternator (or charging circuitry).

If it’s the original battery it is simply a matter of time before you get stranded. Mine started acting “odd” like this - the straw that broke the camel’s back was when the low battery warning came up after sitting in line at the gas station with the car off and radio on for 30 seconds.

Ayao, do you happen to have a link or part # to the battery you replaced the original with? Did you go with a BMW OEM part or another manufacturer?

Thanks!

Guys, a battery lasts anywhere between 3 and 12 years (mine is 10½). It's stone cold simple; buy a Deltran, Ctek or Schumacher battery maintainer and use it over night once a week unless you're driving it almost every day. Driving the car simply won't bring an "older" battery up to 100%.

If you have a number of cars, consider those new glove box size lithium battery packs. Our Costco has both Deltran and the battery packs.

it'll take litte more time for it to recharge to certain percentage on the battery then it'll stop the warning, it took me a whole weeks worth of driving before it go away completely. Now I need new tires $1250 from costco for 4 ps2, then gotta head back to dealer to get alignment.

Don't go to Costco!

I just took my X5 there and was not happy!

Scratched my rims, messed up gasket replace on my TPMS and was losing air...was a mess!

Ended up taking it to the dealership to sort out!

FYI - I love Costco and have for 10+ years....but, won't go back for tires to save $100 bucks anymore.

I go to an old tire shop across town, because the owner has an old 911 and is super meticulous about damage of wheels and TPMS. I pay a premium on the tires, but it is worth it, IMO.

Costco is awesome, but maybe not for enthusiasts, JMO.

wonder if your Akra solenoid may be connected to a constant power source. you may want to make sure it only works when the car is on. you can check this by checking for the little light on the module in the trunk. if its on when the car is off, you need to move it to another power source. i connected mine to the cigarette lighter circuit

that's unfortunate, I haven't had any issues with them so far, got most of my car's tires done by them, GTR, 1M, 911, x3, odessey, all done from them without any problems, knock on woods lol
