Playing video off ipod

I know you can play a DVD off the nav screen but is there a way to play videos off an iPod?

I would like to know if this is possible too, or even play video through a bluetooth connection. Based on what i've read I dont think this is possible, unless something has changed since.

you have to buy the adapter first.

I know the adapter is for iphone only, but maybe you can try buy a extension cable.

dont know if that work or not...

So I would have to pay for the snap in adapter that goes into the armrest? Is that the adapter your talking about? No way to do it through the USB port.

I can never get this to work, the only things under connected are Facebook, twitter, web radio and calendar? I bought the DVD in motion so I'd really like to use, DVD in motion is pricey but it worked like a charm, five minutes from paying I was playing DVDs.

and no matter you want to play dvd or ipod/iphone video, you need to code your car first.

So even parked I can't play videos through an iPod? I didn't buy the snap in adapter since I don't have an iPhone but with my iPod plugged in through the USB I can only seem to browse music and playlist when going through multimedia. When I plugged in my iPad I went to connected drive and started the app but still didn't see anything for playing movies.

It required the media adapter to play video on iphone/ipod/ipad.

Sorry still not fully understanding correctly. So in order to play videos off my iPod I would need the snap in media adapter that goes into the armrest for the iPhone? You need the BMW Apps option to do iPod Screen Out or whatever they call it now.

I do have the BMW apps option. Just trying to figure out if its possible to get video off an ipod through the USB port with out the snap in media adapter and if the snap in adapter is need if it will only work through the adapter or it unlocks something so it'll work through the USB as well.

I can view a video from my IPod connected via the Y cable. I have both the apps option and the snap in. If I remember right, I had the videos on the IPod available for viewing before I had the snap in. Not 100% sure, though. And yea who dub this thread "dumb"... it's really cool to have someone sitting next to you in the 1M for the first time and then start the TopGear 1M test.

Just plain, childish fun... and after all... that's all this car is about!

How do you access the videos? What menu? Please spell it out as I am tech and car savvy, but there just does not seem to be an option to look at the library of videos? I am using the apple USB cable.

Thats exactly where i'm stuck and was wondering if I needed to snap in adapter to "unlock" something where I could browse for movies. Right now with my ipod plugged in, all I can see are my music playlists. If someone could spell it out step by step that would be great.

I was going to, so I plugged my IPod in this morning. Didn't work. Showed my music, didn't show my videos. One of two options, either I stand corrected as I never played videos via the IPod, but via the IPhone and just not realized it, or... the Ipod was using the IPhone as a hotspot and the connection was not actually established via the cable. I'll try that tonight. I'll report on the results.

For those of you using the media snap in adapter, are you actually clicking on the little film strip icon (3rd or 4th one down, where the "now playing", "playlists" etc. icons are? You can't just select the video like it was an audio track...

Is this in the plugin menu? I think I know where I may have gone wrong as I was trying to access through the CD / Multimedia menu. I'd get the sound coming through but no picture.

Hmm....I'll have another go tonight.
