Less expensive pressure washer foam guns?

I picked up a pressure washer (1600 psi, ~1.4 gpm flow rate) and I've started looking for a foam gun attachment. Ideally I want something that produces a good foam which clings to the car for a while.

I've seen the autogeek one for about 120 but that's quite a bit more than I'd like to spend if possible (I need adapters etc. too).

Does anyone have any suggestions of something that's less expensive without being complete junk?

Wolfe, go to power washers direct. They have the MTM Hydro for $42.99 plus shipping. Its the same as the ones on auto geek.
I paid $51.73 deliver to my house. It takes a week to be delivered.
Get the honey dew snow foam from chemical guys on detailedimage.com
They are the best and super fast shipping.

A little off topic but does the MTM Hydro work with a regular hose? I don't have a pressure washer but looking to get a foam gun.

The Gilmour Foamaster II Foam Gun is a great choice for those with regular hoses and it's what I use personally. You can use any shampoo you'd like with but I do really like the Chemical Guys HoneyDew Snow Foam. We also offer 10% off with the code 10offBMW1 if interested.

Foam cannon's are pressure washer only sadly.
I've had the Gilmour one for a while and this is accurate to my experience with it. It takes a lot of soap and the foam is more watery and doesn't cover a whole panel like videos I've seen of pressure washer foam guns - the foam drips off the car. I'd say it works well as an alternative to a bucket of car wash soap though.

I still like using it but I realized it's costing me a fortune in soap. I saw a video of the MTM hydro where the guy uses 1" of soap in the reservoir and foams a whole infiniti with plenty to spare.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'm just trying to find out what adapters I'll need to get the MTM gun working with my pressure washer but if there's a way to make them connect up I'll go for it & the honeydew foam from detailedimage.

Its true just 1"of soap and your in business. If you have a gas pressure washer the MTM will fit right on as it has a quick connect adapter it comes with.

Looks like I hit a bit of a snag, the MTM foam fun won't fit my AR pressure washer. Hopefully I can get a new gun for it with a different attachment.

I was watching HSN (I don't know why) but they used this thing called EZ Jet that looked really cool and could serve your purpose well. Look it up on their website:

It might. I have an AR112 and MTM foam cannon and had to hunt high and low to find the right adapter. Shoot me a PM and maybe I can help you out.

Will it fit on the Campbell? I kind of want to get an electric powerwasher and seems like the Campbell is #2 rated at a pretty good price.

I'm not sure, but that place has been awesome & really knowledgeable at responding to my questions, I'd email them and check for certain.

Just ordered some of the honeydew snow foam but have a question.

I found this video of it:

and that's not quite what I was hoping for. Is this due to a weaker concentration or wrong kind of nozzle or is this about as good as this foam gets?

I've seen another video of the chemical guys maxi suds II in the MTM hydro and that was really clingy foam.

A few things to consider:
  • That Home Depot G-Foam blaster in the video doesn't produce super thick foam no matter what you use. I have it as well as the MTM. And the CG foam gun in the video is exactly the same as the G-foam gun.
  • IMO, Maxi-Suds foams every bit as much as Honeydew and it's a lot cheaper
  • The MTM Hydro will foam a bit more, but not much. And that is with the air regulator at full open
  • Ultra thick shaving cream foam is cool to look at, but having it a little runny helps to float away a lot of the bigger contaminants
  • Higher gpms on your PW should create more foam
