A good reason for heated seats! And a cabin! And any sort of heat! Any exhaust on my car would be welcome! Looking for either the cutout w/ quad exits I mentioned in the "What did you do to/for your 1'er today?" thread recently, or N55 midpipes and 135i aft section (maybe resonator delete). I can't honestly justify the cost of the Performance Exhaust, especially since I can get a full header-back from Magnaflow for that much.

Chrs,

I lived (and flew - I’m a helicopter pilot) in Prescott for about seven years. Nice area, I’d love to move back someday. Riddle is a good school but $$$, I didn’t go there just what I’ve heard.

That's awesome! Aren't all the good schools $$$?

^^ Yes, they are. You’ll spend more at ERAU versus just a regular flight school because you’re also getting a degree. Flight training (if that’s what you’re looking at) has gotten breathtakingly expensive!

There’s a huge pilot shortage (fixed wing, not rotor) right now. If you’re willing to put up with the crappy lifestyle for several years you can make some fantastic money down the road. Senior Captains at FedEX (for example) are pulling in $200-$300K a year.

Sorry to go off topic...

I'm looking for an Aeronautical Engineering major, minor in mechanical engineering. My dad wants me to start my flight training now, so I can get my license soon, hopefully boosting my college application, especially to an aero-specializing school. I'm kinda meandering between a Commercial Pilot, and an Air Traffic Controller. Pilot is hard on a family, ATC is hard on you.

ATC is not a bad choice, they make very good money and retire early.

Nothing beats driving the Alps over here as swagon can attest too on our Euro 1Addicts adventures.

I remember driving one from Summit Point, WV down to Charlottesville, VA... taking some back roads... it was quite nice.

https://www.google.de/maps/dir/Summi...3059!3e0?hl=en

Driving up around Camp David roads are also quite nice in the Fall...
https://www.google.de/maps/dir/Catoc...5417!3e0?hl=en

Gettysburg, Harpers Ferry. Maybe stay at the Bavarianinnwv.com or the The Inn At Antietam.

My advice is to just get in your car and get lost. Find places off the beaten path and enjoy.

Years ago I remember visiting the Peter Pan Inn, in Urbana, MD. Now that was some eccentric old place. Sadly it looks to be closed and leveled now.

I've always wanted to go West and drive the Rockies. Maybe drive up Pikes Peak... that's also on my bucket list.

I did Pikes Peak in an Audi Coupe back when it was mostly dirt and had "Pass with Care" signs. And pass I did - frequently, rapidly, and occasionally sideways - but always with care. Good times....

If you have the financial means to start flight training, I'd recommend it. I started at 15 and begged, borrowed and stole to get my private, instrument, and commercial in college. I started college in engineering at a big school and ended up in accounting at a small school. Flying was for fun and an unlikely back-up plan. It did actually help me get my job at a big CPA firm when I graduated even though nothing I do involves aviation. Being a pilot says volumes about your dedication and work ethic, which looks impressive to any recruiter regardless of industry.

Also - you don't know what direction life will take you but at least have fun along the way. Flying is right up there with motorcycles and fast cars! Do it!

The Tail of the Dragon was fun too, with beautiful views, but you get tired of turning after a while because it is seems to be never ending (we went over into TN and back without stopping). We drove it at the end of the day, so the traffic wasn't heavy. Also look into staying at the Tapaco Lodge near the Dragon if you go. Great place.

And the section of 28 between Franklin and 74 was just repaved a couple weeks ago.

VA-647 from Rt 123 to Clifton via VA-643. Not as nice or empty as Joplin, but it's far closer to civilization.

I took Joplin on Thursday before dropping the car off at the collision center to get it repaired.

It was a GORGEOUS 71 Degreed F, and was scattered skies, with a nice breeze from the West.

Windows down, sunroof cracked...it was pure ecstasy, a pure and wonderful drive in this artfully-engineered (and modded) car. The CSL-like sonorous sound of that spaced intake box bellowing off of the trees and the ground, the snick-snick action of the fresh SSK, the wonderfully balanced suspension tuning, the wicked front-end grip of the camber plates. It was just how I imagine Elon felt when his over-priced, electric Lotus became the most famous car ever...it was just pure, distillate Heaven-on-Earth glory. The stresses of the week, and of the rest of the world just seemed to roll off my shoulders as I just shredded through the first bend. I really got to rip on the new intake manifold, tune, and modded filter box; and it was awesome! I can't wait to someday get my car looking as good as it drives!

I miss my car more than I ever have...

I was in L.A. and rented an Audi A4 from a company called Silvercar for only $40/day incl. all taxes. (PM me if you want a $25 referral bonus). So I took it out on the Angeles Crest Highway. Quite fun beating on a car when you don't have to pay for the tires or brakes

I've been up Angeles Crest Highway many times when I was younger, though I haven't been there in a while. Beautiful scenery and a whole lot of fun. These days I go up Mt. Baldy Road. Much closer to me (about 15 min. away) and I think just as much fun. I'll try to remember to take some pics next time I go and post them here.
