Exclamation $249 SPECIAL -- Walnut blast is a MUST on your N54!! (w/ pics!)

Call us now to schedule your appointment!

(800) 438-2808

So last week we started our Intake Valve Walnut Blast Special and got lots of interest. For this reason we have made our walnut blast service an everyday special of Only $250 over at SSR Performance in Orange County, CA. We've gotten an insane amount of interest! Customers are coming in from North LA, Corona, Riverside, and even San Diego. It's very obvious why people are so anxious (if you're not, you probably should be) to get this done on their N54 motors when you take a little peek inside...

Here is a photo of the intake valves we did. Before the cleaning the customer was noticing slow throttle response on WOT and a bumpy idle (if you're tuned, it is even MORE vital you get this done). It doesn't take a genius to see why after taking a look inside...

Since the N54 is a direct injection motor, the intake valves are only in contact with air and blowby gases from the crankcase breathing circuit, in which substantial quantities of fuel and oil can be found. This is opposed to non-direct injection motors in which fuel passes over the valves and acts as a cleaning agent so that the build of of carbon deposits does not occur. After several thousand miles of driving (approx. every 30k is when this service is recommended) deposits of carbonised fuel and oil in the intake tract can become fused on, as well as on the intake valves themselves. This process is often referred to as "carbonising", as you see in the photo above.

After some TLC (plus some sweat and elbow grease) from our team, these intake valves were looking like new...

Every customer is left with a HUGE smile on their face when they see the before and after of their intake valves. :happy It takes about 2.5 hours per vehicle. This specific customer was very happy with the whole process. He messaged us the next day and couldn't stop raving about how much better his car feels at idle, as well as the very noticeable increase in throttle response.

So if you have an N54 BMW with over 30k miles and have never had this done before today, hopefully this thread will show you the importance of why it is so vital that your direct injection motor get this service done as soon as possible. Sadly, there is no other way around it. If you have any questions about the process feel free to PM, email, or call us today!

Get your Walnut Blast done for only $240 SPECIAL Setup an appointment today, contact us anytime and we will make sure we work with you to setup an appropriate time and get your intake valves looking like new again!

Is there a process similar to this available for an N51?

Thanks in advance.

The N51 is not a direct injection engine and so it will not have carbon buildup anywhere close to those of the n54's pictured above. Fuel actually passes over the valves in the n51 engine which helps keep them clean. That being said to keep your valves and ports as clean as possible, it is best to use top tier gasoline (something with detergents like techron) and use some fuel additives/ cleaner every now and again.

SSR Performance! Thank you for the information. I appreciate your professionalism. I'm a rookie in the world of BMW so thanks for not being harsh on me for not knowing much about the N51.

The N55 uses valves as idle control and throttle stays open mostly. This means carbon does not tend to build up as much. So from the n55's we have seen, yes there is some build up, not in the same league as the n54's. Possibly for a high mileage n55 but other than that the new n55 and s55 engines are pretty efficient.

If you track your car or drive it on the autobahn at high speed for long periods of time you probably don't need this service. This was my DI track car at 72K, BPY FSI 2L. Everyone had horror stories and pics of intake valves gummed up way worse than in the OP but if you run your engine at consistently high RPM you won't have an issue with buildup getting to the point where it causes issues.

Lucky! Doesnt look too bad at all. From what we have seen, the n54's build up alot more carbon than the VW's.

Is this like the RX-8 saying it needs to be red-lined once every fuel up? Essentially burning off the carbon build up.

Kind of, you need to do more than that though. Sustained high RPM is what does the cleaning, not an occasional trip to redline.

I track occasionally, but my 135i is my daily driver. Do you think this will benefit me?
