Hey..

Is anyone familiar with the JL Cleansweep? I spoke to my stereo guy and he said its out. Just want some basic feedback on it if anyone has it installed. Thanks

It seems to have a good reputation in the industry - other members can probably post in more detail. But one thing I can post that you should consider is that to use the Cleansweep to its fullest potential, you have to use the remote volume control it comes with. That means, unless your stereo shop can circumvent this (or you choose not to use it to its fullest potential) you will lose your steering wheel and dash controls for volume.

By the way, if you are wondering what I mean by not using the Cleansweep to its fullest potential if you don't use its own volume control, read the right column of page 8 of the manual. In short, there may be more of a system noise/hiss, and you lose the ability to override some aspects the BMW EQ.

The manual is available to download at the bottom of this page:

I basically just want to add a sub. I just got off the phone and he told me with the cleansweep you have to change out your speakers and what not to take full advantage of it. He reccomended something called AudioControl LC6 which will allow me to use just a sub....Anyone familiar with that? Also, i dont have the cold weather package, so my seats don't fold down. Will I be able to take adv of the sub in the trunk or will it be a waste.

It's time to find a new shop. Seriously, either this guy is taking you for a ride or he has never worked on an e90 before.

You absolutely DO NOT need Cleansweep or an LC6 to simply install a subwoofer. You'd be spending a few hundred dollars on either of those components for absolutely no reason.

Find a competent shop that has experience with BMWs. There is a good article here with some examples of how the install can (and should) be done without an EQ...

Well it was my choice for the cleansweep or LC6...I did some reading and thought this was the cleanest way of achieving it...thanks for the link..I'll look into it more.

The cleansweep really is a piece that you would use if you are going to complete redo your system, all new amps and speakers but using factory HU. The CS completely recalabrate your factory HU equalized sound to make the freq response flat. You then can tailor it with aftermarket sound processor, Xover, amps and speakers.

To run a sub, you can use the AC LC6. This gives you some flexibility as far as matching your input to the gain on the amp and it also gives a signal sensing trigger wire to turn on the sub amp.

I was going to get the LC6 (like $150 ) until I found a module made by PAC which does the same thing for $25. The model # is Trunk-LOC (Trunk-Line output converter). The PAC part is good enough to run your sub setup unless you want to have LC6 as a surface mounted show piece.

I'm not into show really. My last car had a hell of a system...right now I just feel my system lacks a little oomph. PITTWM...do you have detailed instructions on a sedan? I saw the instructions on the e91 and was wondering if it was the same. I saw someone else patching into their logic7 amp..where would the nonlogic7 amp be...I searched and couldnt find anything..thanks
