Adding Heated Seats

Has anyone added heated seats to their 1 that did not originally have them?

Do you mean swapping out the seats, or retrofitting the heating elements? The retrofit part number from BMW is 61110434339 - you also have to upgrade your console panel to add the switches.

Retrofit.

No I was wondering if anyone had added the heating elements to a car without heated seats?

It would involve taking the covers off, and installing the elements. Also, adding the new console switches. You might be able to persuade your dealer to print out the installation instructions to see what it is like.

Sport Seats?

it looks like the retrofit kit is only for cars without sport seats. Does anyone know if all the sport seats have the heating elements in them?

no I don't believe they do, and I don't know why the kit is only for regular seats, perhaps the sport ones just are too complicated- I know the heater elements in my e46 sport seats were in the bucket, back and leg extensions- that could make it too complicated for a dealer to retrofit?

Summer Car Only

I bought my 128 convertible for non-winter use only, which is why I didn't order heated seats. I am now regretting my decision not to spend the additional 500 for the heated seats as they might be nice in the early spring/late fall. I guess I will wait to see what the sport seats look like before deciding if I want to pursue an aftermarket retrofit of heated seats.
