Shhh don't tell:MadDad Street Series Exahust
OK people,
Anyone that has followed along the previous MadDad exhaust threads knows by now that the Whisper series exhaust we introduced last April was exactly what we said it would be. That being an exhaust that served two market segements 1) The adult ethusiast that wanted more sound character without much more volume and 2) Those seeking an exhaust that could serve as the centerpiece of a complete system that still keeps the volume at sane levels. We've since earned the reputation for delivering exhausts that are truely hand crafted with pride in the USA, that fit perfect the first time with no funny business and meet or exceed the expectation customers have had for their purchases. ...but what about folks that want more volume from just an axleback who might have no interest in a complete system or maybe just like it louder? That is what the new MadDad Street Series is all about. Our Street Series exhaust will be similiar to serveral other offerings on the market already..the ones that have no muffler. The MadDad Street Series will be no different in that respect, it will have no packed muffler. But that is where the similarities end. Systems currently on the market use an extra 'chamber' to give some minor degree of volume control. Our methods will be different because we don't like putting dead end chambers into a turbo exhaust. Our opinion is they are better served for naturally aspirated motors. Other manufactuers will have their design philosophies around this and I won't say they are wrong, I will just say we don't agree. Our methods to mitigate the sound being over the top will be different. To take a slight edge off the sound we are using double walled "resonated" tips. Resonated tips have perforated baffles that work as the name implies, they are small resonators. We can also tune the sound by making small internal diameter changes just before the exhaust gases are released. Because we are using double walled resonated tips, there will only be one tip option. The rest of the system will be built to the exact same standard as our current Whisper system meaning all T304SS including the hangers and flanges and of course they will be 100% hand crafted in the U.S.A. So the next question is price and when. When: I'll have a unit for show and tell end of next week. Sound clips will be posted about a week later. Production units shipping by end of Febuary. Price: Everyday price of $549. We'll offer some incentive on the first batch, though I don't have that fully baked yet but figured I'd drop the details for now. Rich

Sounds awesome Rich, I am sure it will be a quality piece just like my axleback. I love it more and more and the thing gets a ton of compliments!

How are you thinking that drone will be on these new systems?
I was considering one of your Whisper systems in the spring because the drone on my Berk can be pretty gnarly on the highway. I'm torn though because around town it sounds SO_FING_GOOD. I'll be interesting to see what you end up with. *subscribed* |

Hmmm. I'm on track for the AA AB group buy. They have the drone chamber and claim there's no drone whatsoever...

So just a little update. Our shop did get the one-off unit out to me so I'll have it in my hands next Thrusday/Friday. I need to test our production midpipe on my car with my Whisper system before I install and test the Street series. I can tell you for certain I won't have any sound clips for a couple of weeks. It will be a week before I can test our new midpipe and I need to due that before installing the new axleback. I'll post pics next week though.
Someone asked it if will look like the old RR. I don't think so. The pipe routing starts with the same routing/bends as the Whisper but then we don't use the canister. A Y pipe splits the exhaust at the end for the two resonated tips along with some minor sound tuning. I won't be able to comment on the sound quality until its tested of course. But like other parts we sell, it won't get released until I'm personally happy with how it sounds after driving with it myself. I will be marketing this pipe to those that intend to keep the rest of their system stock so the sound tuning is going to be dialed in for the stock midpipe and stock downpipes. I will test it initially with our performance midpipe just so I know what it will sound like, but it will definately be dialed in sound wise for the stock midpipe. The Whisper exhaust we already sell is our suggested route if running a performance midpipe because the Whisper starts off quiter and combined with a performance midpipe is "just right" for the type of customer we look to sell to. There are already plenty of louder setups for those that prefer it that. Will post again when I receive the exhaust end of the week. I'll get to the PM box before the day is out, I know I've got a few PMs from many of you. I had just a minute and thought I'd update the thread for now. Rich
