VC/PCV advice
'12 135i with 97K.
I finally experienced the "PCV whistling" issue. It has only happened twice and both times on the track. I pulled back into the paddock and heard the noise when I stopped. Opened the hood, remembered the threads about it from my serpentine squeak odyssey, pulled the oil cap, noise stopped, put cap back on, noise did not return. So something is occasionally sticking, probably at high boost levels given it has only happened at the track; either one of the check valves or the PCV. So, here is my question...there are several options. Pls help me decide. 1. Replace the PCV directly for cheap with some DIY skill (https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1624732) Then again this might not even help as I am leaning toward it being a check valve in the VC on the high boost side. 2. Replace with factory VC - (almost $500!) 3. Replace with Aftermarket VC - (prices range wildly from $110-350). I am leaning toward option 3 and would love to save some money but am not sure how far down the cost tree I should go. Then again, I think I have the skill to at least attempt option 1. This looks like a good middle ground for a little over $300 - https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assemble...11127570292kt/ For the record, this would be a much easier decision if the VC also had the anticipated 100K oil leak...but it doesn't...VCG was replaced at a dealer at 62K before I bought the car (should I assume they replaced the VC also? One wonders). Any advice appreciated.
