Soft top not opening 135i E88

So my car just got back from the dealer from having the DME repaired and the fluid in the roof system topped up because it wasn’t opening on a steep incline.

The roof now isn’t opening at all

The in dash screen says “Soft Top! Emergency operation.”
And and does nothing.

Any ideas?
I’m hoping they’ve unplugged something and didn’t put it back right.

Is the roof tray thing in your trunk folded down?

The roof tray is folded down.

Out of curiosity i also tried it with the tray folded up and i got the same message.

So it's as if in the computer's process something goes wrong before it even checks if the back tray is in the right position.

None of the windows go down when i press the roof button either just a solid red light above the button.

What does your dealer say? Shouldn't they have tested it after doing work on it?

I'm sorry, I don't have iDrive so I don't know the answer to this, but out of curiosity, is this the same message that you would have received on your iDrive if the tray was up and you were trying to put the roof down, or is there a separate message for that error?

I ask because there is clearly a sensor or module that understands the position of the tray and will prevent any operation of the roof, so if this is in fact the same error message, then I might start my investigation there before anywhere else. Good luck either way and keep us updated.

So after about 6 weeks of them stuffing me around it's been fixed and I was told it was a connection issue.

My guess is they didn't connect everything back up properly the first time! So annoying!
