Test drive was good in one respect...the sound I was hearing appears to be gone!

The not-so-good thing is squishy pedal feel. It is unrelated to the pistons and it's my own fault...didn't block the brake pedal before the work, so there is likely air in the DSC unit. Will see if my INPA daten's cover my car tomorrow so I can execute the factory procedure ( chadillac2000 indicated in this thread selecting E87 worked and he was able to use INPA to flush all four corners to perfection). Still need the Motul for that and it doesn't get here until Monday.

If that doesnt work you can get good results doing a few abs stops and then re-bleeding at the calipers

I was hovering over the 6 piston performance brakes for my 125i sometime in winter, granted the 125i will never be as fast as the 135i (stock or modified), but seeing those melting seals. Makes me wonder if it really is an upgrade for the 125i or not. Sticking to larger 330i front rotors (330mm compared to tiny 300mm stock) and stock calipers seems to be the best option now (for me anyways).

They sure looks sexy though!

Glad I ordered the rears. Was surprised to discover the right rear dust boots were slightly melted and there was some brake fluid leaking from the inside piston too.

Got the new ones installed.

For competeness, here are the tools I used to get the dust boots and seals out.

Thx again to chadillac2000 for the DSC bleed procedure. Used a liter of fluid but worked great. Pedal feel is back. Ready for next Sunday's track day! I'll report back how they do and what the post inspection looks like.

Andy, there's a practice event on 10/14 that, depending on the weather, we might be going to.

Great write up and pix btw. This will be a Winter project for me as I think the fronts really need a rebuild; the left front is really tight even when just changing the tires to race.

Update: if you do this and need to bleed the brakes, do the DSC bleed procedure at least twice. Pedal felt ok at first after doing it once but had a longer throw than before. Did it a second time tonight after about 35 miles of druving. I used a clean drain bottle so I could reclaim. After redoing all four calipers I ended up having to add about 125ml of makeup fluid and the pedal tightened up to what it was beforel. May do the procedure again before my track event Sunday.

Thr regional SCCA group has an event this Sunday, 9/30, in Bremerton if you're interested? I usually do AM time only.

Andy,

Any feedback from your track day? I'm still thinking about this same upgrade over the winter.

Sorry, been out of town. Review is simple..they worked great! I'll post a couple of post event pics this weekend. Still look new. I'd do it. I am probably going to get RB's rotors this winter also. Overall, this whole upgrade will be a lot less expensive than a BBK upgrade.
