I have been dealing with them directly. They are actually passing the buck to the shop whom sold me the clutch, or turn 14 thier distributor. Poor, poor business practices.

F10 550i clutch installed!

Smooth engagement, slightly firmer pedal feel, engages very early on pedal lift (I have a clutch stop, and the stock clutch was like this when new also). I will need to get used to that.

If I press the clutch pedal down at an engine speed of about 2800-3200 rpm, the pedal feels slightly gritty, very subtle vibration. Any other engine speed is normal, pedal travel is smooth as butter. Clutch kit comes with a new TO bearing, so I can't imagine it is bad. Install was done by a very good shop. Hopefully this is just the pressure plate breaking in.

I'll update once I can start pushing it harder.

That's a good thought, I'll do that. One more thing on the to-do list during winter hibernation....

Thanks for the feedback mate I'm yet to get mine in, but great to hear another success story with the 550i clutch.

Hoping to have mine in within the next few weeks, but keen to hear any more feedback once you've driven it a little more.

Actually, the car is mostly put away for the winter and the front tires are nearly corded, so I am trying to get through the winter with occasional short drives so I can get new rubber in the spring.

Having said that, I have driven it about 50 miles or so with this clutch and it seems that what I am feeling is chatter from the clutch. It is much less noticeable now than the first drive, so it seems to be going away.

I got my 550i clutch installed couple of weeks back and what a dream to drive coming from a motive twin plate full face clutch on a smfw.

I'm running around 320rwk on pump fuel and 7400n of torque

The clutch is beautiful to drive and copes with the power very well

Took it down to the roll races and she didn't miss a beat

So if you guys are worried about the 550i clutch slipping don't be on a tuned stock engine she can put up with what ever you throw at it within reason

Great to know Marty.

I would have thought your car would be putting out too much power for it to cope, but happy to hear its holding up well.

My 550i clutch is going in tomorrow, really excited to see what its like.

You won't be disappointed

So silky smooth and nice to drive and don't have to worry about blowing the gearbox

And no rattling either

Just take it easy for the first 500km

I've probably done about 400 kms on it now, super happy with it.

Quiet, light pedal pressure (probably a touch lighter than stock), and holds the power well. Would definitely recommend it.

I'm running MFactory SMFW paired with a Spec Stage 3+ clutch. it's a great combination IMO, chatter is barely audible (maybe due to the fact that they used the same Chromoly steel found in our stock DMFW) and engagement is softer than stock. biting point is forgiving as well.

Performance and comfort does not usually go hand in hand thus I was really surprised because I'm on Pure S2 turbos on 26psi and needed the extra durability and bite.
Support from Mfactory has been great as well.

I did get a second clutch kit in from clutch masters. Its much better now, but is still a tricky combination. Upon warmup this combination still exhibits some harsh engagement characteristics. Not completely happy, but at least it works. While pooring over clutches the past couple of days with a friend whom has a rb turboed 135, we chose the spec 3+ with steel spec flywheel. Did you go with SAC or non SAC?

I think stage 3+ are all non-SAC

Clutch just broke.

I described some sensations in the clutch pedal above, which seemed like minor chatter and had nearly resolved in the 500 miles (at most) that I have driven since install. I have still been easy on the clutch to make sure it had plenty of time to properly break in and it seemed to be doing well.

This evening I was in stop and go traffic, and was inching ahead a car length at a time in first gear. The problem began suddenly. I was going about 10mph in first gear and needed to stop. When I pressed the clutch pedal in, it seemed to get stiffer then usual about half way through its travel, but still went all the way to the floor. At that moment, a metallic scraping sound began. It did not sound like a gear grind, more like an electric motor spinning fast, like an RC car. As the car came to a stop, it seemed like the clutch had not fully disengaged and the engine was slowing, but never stalled. I pulled the car out of first gear which took moderate effort, then the metallic scraping sound stopped. This all happened in about 1-2 seconds. The clutch pedal stayed on the floor. I did not try to manually pull it back up to its usual resting position. With the transmission in neutral, the car idled fine.

There is no better way to end the work week (looking forward to driving on the weekend with new coilovers, new tires, and a fresh alignment) than to put the hazards on and watch the traffic build up.

I am thinking throw-out bearing failure. The mechanic thought it could also be a slave cylinder failure. Any thoughts?

The car was towed to the shop and they will look at the hydraulics tomorrow. If that isn't it, they will be able to get into the clutch assembly Monday.

Clutch fork, to bearing or slave problem most likely. Let's hope its the slave.

Did they replace the pivot pin

But sounds like the push pin from the slave cylinder had become dislodged or one of the pressure plate bolts has come out

Did they replace all the bolts with new ones as they are all one time use ?

They were supplied with all new bolts in addition to the kit. I bought all of the parts from the dealer myself and dropped them off with the car.
