I was doing almost 90 in a 55 in the left lane, and the only one on the highway in that section at that time. I have a passport 8500, and all of a sudden the cop must have turned on his laser (KA band) and I had full "hit". He was parked in the grass along the highway pointing towards me. I didn't even have time to touch the brakes. He turned on his lights, and as soon as I got near him, he turned them off. I'm not sure that it's becuase of the e90, but it seems as the police don't hunt you as much as when you are in a crappy car. Oh yeah, luxsh, I do feel weird sometimes going through a drive -through. Last night, I was comming back from the bars and stopped at taco bell, and I just felt uncomfortable. On the upside though, my windows were down as i was ordering, and was talking on the bluetooth system in the car. Two girls got out of their car behind me, walked up to me and said that my car is unbelievable! The first verbal compliment I got so far (drool doesn't count). Too bad they were jailbait :-)

Seriously, the 3 series is really just another car and looks the part. I don't notice any particularly obvious change in driver behavior when behind the wheel of one car or another.
Perhaps I'm less sensitive to badge envy or status than others, but I see numerous BMWs of all vintages and models on the road every day and I'm always struck by how unassuming they all look in stock trim. No doubt my own cars, while (through my own designs) probably a bit cleaner and more aggressive in appearance than their respective stock counterparts, don't do much to stand out either. Seems to me that people's attitudes are more tied to the age and appearance of the car's driver than the car itself. The only effect the car might actually have is to draw more attention to and amplify or dilute the visual traits of the driver. You're going to be more offended by a young kid behind the wheel of an expensive car than an old man, just as you'll be more offended by an old man in a purpose built sports car (especially a cheaper one) than a younger driver. If the car fits the driver, you probably won't think twice about it. |

People love my E90, even the guy that pumps my gas at the Agip gas station loves my car (Italy has both Servito/Full Service & Fai Date/Self Service). This is proof to that the E90 is still cool in Italy, I guess the people can tell that there is a new bimmer in town.

But I guess in the context of this thread and considering the cars we see in Southern California every day, I can see your point.
