if you really want one, you can order brand new n55 midpipe from bmw dealer. it's not available in stock in US, but they will bring it from Germany. it costs about $450.

a bmw dealer in the US can order the N55 midpipes from germany? I'm assuming the german midpipes are the same as stock minus the cats? Does it still have a silencer?

dealer can order 2 type of midpipe.
n54 midpipe (cats and silencer)
n55 midpipe (silencer only)

n55 pipe is less than $500 while n54 is around $1500 (due to cats).

I would shop around some more...

I paid 300 euros for my N55 mid pipes. Dan at United quoted me $400-ish I think. I bet they are under $400 now. Everytime I check they price has dropped. When the N55 first came out the price was 500 euros over here!

No shopping around to do. Can't get them in the USA yet.

IF a new car is sold in the USA... you CAN order any part for that model/year. Try another dealer.

I know I asked Dan @United about the N55 mid pipe when I was thinking about getting one last year. He had a better price then my local dealer in Germany... but when you figure in what the US Mail wants to mail it to my APO... it was way cheaper ordering one thru my local German dealer.

So... I don't understand why you can not order one thru a US dealer? Unless the price is the issue?
