And the price is the same, too ($1,833.79). The LSD for the e46 M3 has a different part number (PN 33102282481) and price ($2,568.98). Am I missing something, or is our (1M) LSD the same as the LSD on e9x M3s, and different from the e46 M3 differential? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks.
I'm not really sure, but like you I have heard many different stories on the diff. I guess the last thing that stuck in my head was Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear saying the suspension was from the current M3 and the Rear End is from the last M3. But Jeremy has been wrong plenty of times before (i.e. Big/Small Turbos for low end and high end. etc...)

Either way, its completely different than the E-Diff on the 135 which was about the only thing I didn't like about the 135.

Read the info.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating: testdrive both and let us know about your experiences.

If you're fond of comparisons: the similarity of DNA between chimp and humans is 95%. 135i is human. 1M is an outright monster.

Yeah -- I took note of Clarkson's comment on the diff as well. I think he just plain got it wrong. Everything else out there (BMW-generated and press) indicate that the diff (and the entire rear end) is a wholesale transplant from the e9x M3.

Re: that last question, all I can say is "take cover"! And the number is 740 in the US. Good luck.

you can't send someone to test drive a car that 99.9% of us had to buy without a test drive. If it wasn't available then, what do you think he will be faced with now that they have all found homes?

I guess maybe he could get lucky and find one that has been traded in...or a very very very nice owner that will let him test drive the car lol

I personally think that's the coolest thing about the 1M. There are only 740. Very rare to own and one of kind for sure !

Meant take cover from members bombs. Yours is an innocent question about a already fully covered topic. Just search "1m production" in this forum.

Okay, just to simplify things.

The 1M owners are likely to sing: "///M is for Monster, that's good enough for me."

Hey.. I like this guy. Too funny

You will be hard pressed to find one. It was about this time last year when I was calling my dealer everyday to get this car. And no, no test drive. Just a belief that it was going to be a special car. ---> Very special. I feel very lucky to own one.

Good Luck.

And hey.. Porsche's aren't that bad either

You can put an M badge on a Kia if you want, nobody here will really care...

If is a 135. Search for a thread about 1m body kit for the 135. You're going to love it. :-)

Mod that Kia to the max, for extra street cred.

Gentlemen, I know what you are trying to say about our cars having an LSD (Limited Slip Differential). The folks I met at ///M. Garching corrected me and told me our cars have a Full lock rear diff, not a limited slip which is significant to them . Calling it an LSD is shortchanging M cars! This unit is big part of what makes it a real M over M cosmetic models.
