Break in oil change?

Has anyone gotten the dealer to do the oil change around 3000 miles? Also if you did, did you have to pay for it because it's not a part of the CBS?

I did at 3k only because I was leaving on an 8,000 mile trip. Normally I change at around 8k or once yearly.

I don't see where there is any benefit as your car does come with "break-in" oil in it but it you do, make sure you specify an "Interim" change which should cost around $100 at a BMW dealer.

I got the dealership to change it at 2000 miles for free, but it was under the "annual" oil change.
