Don't Plasti-Dip your CAR!

Bought this car for my wife from Texas.
Was a repo and been through a bunch of dealer lots for the past year or 2 waiting for someone to save it.

Ended up buying it and shipping it to GA. So far I've done 2600 in parts and labor, another 1k in parts ready to go on. Just barely passed emissions but the WORST part by far is the plasti-dip!

Do not ever dip your car.
I'm 16 hours of spraying and pressure washing and pealing in and the roof just won't come off at all.

See the live stream of me struggling through removing this thing using "Dip Dissolver" provided by the company. The product has very little effect even with 3000 PSI of pressure and water! The water is so strong I damaged the front and back of my hand thinking I would check the pressure because it wasn't working...

Why the hell would someone Plasti-Dip a Montego or Le Mans blue BMW white? Blue looks WAY better. Yes, I am biased...

Ha! I didn't watch it until the end. The blue looks good for the first five minutes.

Bless you for going through the effort to try and save that car.

What do you plan to do if/when you get the plasti-dip off? Also what was the original color on it? I wonder if it might be better off to just get the whole thing sanded down through the plasti dip and whatever that paint is underneath and repaint it with a fresh paint job.

313 style wheels are nice though.

I thought about this

But I was able to get the car back to almost White
Unfortunately the whole front end needs to be repainted with new parts so
I bought a 1M style bumper, new fenders, new side skirts and will be freshly painting them white.

Waiting to pull the trigger on a CF style hood to finish the front end when the paint is done

What started as a 7k project is now at 12-13k
After paint and hood I'll probably end up near 15k to save this car

though I own a Le Mans blue 135is, my favorite color on the 1 Series has to be Alpine White or Jet black. Weird, these 2 colors always stand out with the 1 Series.
