Can navigation screen be replaced with dash storage tray?

I have a 2009 135. The navigation screen is toast. The film is chipping off. It looks awful. I have been looking for a replacement but they are hard to find and very expensive. I see that I can get a dash storage tray for under $100 though. Does anyone know if this would be a direct fit? In other words, could I simply remove the nav screen and install the dash storage bin in it's place?
