Here are the logs. Same tune. Only difference is stock vs Pure HD WG. I think I gained 2-3 psi at the similar WGDC. Which is awesome.

Stock WG log: https://datazap.me/u/houtan/stock-wg...0&data=3-14-25

Pure HD WG log: https://datazap.me/u/houtan/aftermar...0&data=3-14-25
What logs are you referring to there? It just links to all your logs for each of those links. Would be interested in comparing the two.

Also, while I noticed that Pure is offering a replacement PWG actuator, it's not marketed as an HD actuator, or improved over OEM in any way. Just, "OEM N55 Wastegate Actuator common fail point leading to low boost or no boost."

https://www.pureturbos.com/store/bmw...-actuator.html

However, Shuenk is offering, or at least has teased that it will offer, an upgraded OEM+ PWG actuator. From what I've read, it appears the improvement is based solely on mechanical spring tuning. Not an upgraded vacuum diaphragm design. While the former is helpful, it's non-linear and doesn't help to combat the N55's autowastegating as effectively as a larger diaphragm design.

Here's what I was running for a while on one of my PS2 setups. It's a Tial 38mm wastegate body modified and adapted for N55 PWG vacuum pull style use. It was still controlled by the stock vacuum solenoid and worked REALLY well without being overzealous.

After a while I moved over to using conventional normally-closed pneumatic wastegate actuators and an appropriate Pierburg solenoid. I've been pretty happy with that.

Thanks!

Just to clarify, my car is DCT. But yes, my car is on the stock original clutchpacks. The only change on the transmission side is I have an M2/3/4 flywheel, which is much lighter than the non m e series dct flywheel.

Doh! thanks for letting me know. Links should be fixed now.

That is a nice looking wg and i think it is very impressive you are able to come up with these solutions on your own.

You are much more knowledgeable than me, so I can't give a specific answer as to how the HD wg is improved over the stock wg. I believe the HD wastegate stops the auto wastegating you mentioned. From what i understand, it can keep the wastegate shut and is stronger than the stock wastegate. In terms of tuning it, nothing really changed except i gained more boost on the exact same tune.

When i turned on PI, i was holding 23ish pounds of boost at redline and the wgdc still wasnt tapped out. Let me try and find some logs. They should be on datazap but i have a ton on there.

I am not sure why the HD wg is not on their website. If you call them, they will be able to tell you it's available.

Yes very good thread. I have n54 but most of what I know of n55 comes from reading this thread and a couple others like it.

Thank you! Always good to hear the information was useful.

Car was running great. I was experimenting with PI off and getting to 500ish whp on e30. Also learned how to adjust my tune and dial in PI on e50 and higher boost. Was really hauling butt with PI. Got a few good runs in with my friends zl1 1le and it was dead even (his car put down 600whp). That was on about 22 psi and 11.5 degrees timing up top.

Currently, she’s at Pure assisting with PS3 development. Hopefully get her back soon. Then I will work on the tunes (DI only and with PI) and share results. If everything works out as it should the results should be awesome.

Edit:
Found the log against my buddies zl1 1le. This map was around 9 degrees timing advance. I tweaked the tune and had it up to about 11.5 degrees in later revisions.

You have to remove the spaces.

Glad the information has been useful.

I think the official part is the wastgate actuator. It’s the thing with the rod coming out of it. I don’t think it’s on their website yet but if you call them they will be able to take your order and answer any questions you may have.

Houtan, are you allowed to share any details on the recently announced Pure 800 kit? I am assuming that the 135i DCT test car is yours? It sounds and looks pretty damn good, congratulations!

Thanks for your post.

I am testing one of the prototypes. Pure will be releasing all of the details when they are ready so unfortunately there is not much I can share at the moment.

I can tell you my car absolutely rips and is much faster running similar boost to the ps2. I know those are both obvious with a bigger turbo. I don’t think anyone looking to make more power than the stage 2 will be disappointed .

Hello, I have a bmw 335i n55 pwg, I beleive it is the same engine.

Wichnis a right AFR for this setup? Around 12.5 running E30?

Mine is running about 11.5 AFR (sometimes even lower) with E30 amdr pure stg2, o think my base map it is too rich.

What do you guys think?

Best regards :-)

Who is your tuner?

We would need to see a log to provide anything useful.

I personally run my car at 12.1 on e50 if you are using the mhd afr value. This is at all power levels from 400 to 630ish whp.

On pump I would say maybe 12.0 ish would be better.

Tks houtan , follows a description of my car and the problem i think i have:

Car: BMW 335i 2011 E90 N55 PWG

Upgrades:
Hybrid turbo (made in Brazil, but similar dimesions of a Pure stg2)
BMS intercooler 5"
BMS Intake
Pure inlet pipe
N20 TMAP sensor
JB4 / bluetooth

Problem:
While runnig the base map (also made here in Brazil) the car runs fine, but as soon as i try to sustain higher boost lvls at high RPMs with jb4 map 6 the car starts to fail momentarily around 5000 RPMs and then it goes again
I beleive it is because the base map is aiming an AFR too rich for this engine ( in the log shows around 11.5, check the logs below )

Log:
https://datazap.me/u/alebler/dino-bomba-nova
OBS: in this log the car is running on a dyno and only with the base map ( JB4 map 4 )

I already saw some N55 engines with pure turbos with +-21 PSI logging around 12.5 AFR with E30 (similar to our gas here in Brazi that is around E25 E27,5) under WOT.

Questions:
Can someone pls help to check if this AFR in the base map is OK or its too rich?
How should be an OK AFR for an N55 engine running E30 fuel?

Tks in advance :-)

Thanks. That is not a useful log. You need to do a log in third gear starting at 2500 rpm’s to redline.

What transmission?

Why are you running a jb4? Do you have someone tuning your car or are you just trying to do it yourself with a jb4?

The base map i have some companies here that do for me, but the JB4, almost noboy knows how to get in it and set it correctly, then it is up to me to do all the jb4 confs.

Tomorow ill try to do some pulls and get a third gear logs.

But at this point my maind concearn is about the AFR tha is on the base map in the log.
For me 11,0 to 11.7 seems a little too rich.
