Repair help

Hey all.

My 135i needs to have the water pump and thermostat replaced (kinda lame at 26K miles but what are you gonna do) and was checking here to see if any helpful (preferably experienced) members would be interested in helping me with it. I have no issues doing it myself, doesn't seem too complicated. Just wouldn't mind having someone there who has done it before.

I pay in pizza, beer, scotch, or USD!

I watched the dealer replace mine under warranty. It's pretty simple. In order to gain access (i.e. Remove the water pump) you need to remove the eight 13mm nuts that hold the center swaybar brackets to the frame. Let the sway bar hang down from the end links and you have plenty of room to pull the water pump forward. The dealer just unplugged the wire harness, pulled the hose off the water pump to let the radiator fluid drain, and unbolted the water pump. They simply reversed the order to reinstall. I don't have the torque specs for the one-time use bolts so hopefully someone can chime in. The torque specs for the 13mm sway bar nuts is 16 ft/lbs.

And one more thing, don't forget to prime the water pump after topping off the radiator fluid. Turn ignition on but don't start the car, turn the heat to the max temperature setting but fan to minimum setting and hold your foot down on the gas until the water pump begins to cycle.
