Yet another trip to the Nürburgring (picture heavy)
Sorry for the lack of english skills (and photo skills).
Me and three buddies recently had a trip to the Nürburgring. Two of us (me in the white 1-series and Andreas in the black one) drove in our own cars, and the other two took a flight to Frankfurt and rented an old english car. Ready to departure. First of two ferries. This one only takes 20 minutes. Checked in at the main ferry which goes to Denmark. The ferry. Very nice weather over to Denmark. Especially since I get sea sick. The ferry is an overnight ferry, and takes around 12 hours. The first leg was 3.5 hours through Denmark, in rain, rain, rain and rain. There where also some rain. We had our first stop just over the border to Germany, where we came across these. Ready for the remaining 7-8 hours of driving. In germany the weather was pretty much the same. The traffic was also quite heavy. I came across a pretty big traffic jam outside Bonn, which I drove by, so my GPS kindly guided my though the city center of Bonn with a million stop lights (all of them red of course). After many, many wet hours we finally arrived at the Nürburgring, and our hotel which was the Dorint with a view of the GP track. And after a while the rest of the group came with their rental. Some random pictures on and around the track. I think this is the upcoming C-class coupé. DB9 outside the Aston Martin building/store/whatever. ...and a brand new Vanquish. (I really think all Astons look the same, so I had to Google them...) 991 GT3 RS outside the Döttinger Höhe gas station. ...and an F83 M4. These are quite rare in Norway, and it's the first time I see an F8x M car. Totally useless picture, but it's not everyday you come across two F87 M2s. You can also see an F31 LCI in the background. The rental in downtown Nürburg. I don't have much experience with cars like these, but it was an awesome car. Some pictures from the track. It's still raining unfortenally. Some kind of Range Rover. Merc A-class facelift (this was just relieved today or something). Q5 RS, or RS Q5(?). Pretty fast. M2 again. Upcoming X1. Not sure why it's still camouflaged. The successor of the Jaguar XK (at least according to the license plate). The parking lot of the "M Testcenter". Opel Calibra inside the Ring Werk. Not that known in the US, but I still like them. The bull from Russia. The new MX-5/Miata. Not a fan of the headlights, but I guess it's a fun car to drive. Andreas did a "wet lap" this day. I don't like driving in the rain that much, so I didn't do any laps this day. The "rental guys" in yet another rental. The rental companies usually don't allow people taking normal renting cars on the track. Norwegian 350Z that had some fun in the wet. Synchronized Hondas. Next day we woke up to sunlight! Next-gen 5-series (G30). Unfortunately I didn't get to see the M5 that was spotted there this week. I did however get a closer look on this one while filling gas later (didn't take any pics though). Probably the Merc GT Black Series. ...the next E-class(?) ...and the upcoming C-class(?) cab. Bentley SUV thing. M4 GTS. Another one. Aston Martin Vantage GT12 (should be named GT3, but Porsche didn't like that for some reason). 2016 Cadillac CTS-V After a while the tourist rides finally opened. I haven't really liked Sakhir orange that good (I've only seen it on pictures), but this was really beautiful. One of two(!) Cayman GT4s. The rental guys gave up the rental and took a taxi ride. And finally I toke a few laps myself. Sticker is mandatory. Random pics. Then it was time for heading home. There was a truck grand prix event the upcoming weekend, so we had a quick look before we left. Pit stop somewhere in Germany. Yet another pit stop. Average speed over the last 846 kilometers. A few bugs. Andreas found the vending machine of his dreams in Denmark. Then it was time for the ferry yet again. Some numbers. Thanks for reading!

Yep. I live about five hours away... so I only go maybe once a year. I have friends who go every few weeks - when the weather's nice. I can't tell you how many times I have left my house with clear skies only to get near the 'Ring and its raining or worse(!) thick fog. Fog and ice is the worst for 'Ring driving. You never quite know what the weather will be like until you are at the 'Ring.
AWT - I hope you went inside the Döttinger Höhe gas station! That place is AWESOME(!) for model cars & 'Ring gifts Dack

I haven't been to the ring at all this year, I need to plan a trip out there once we're back from Italy in 2 weeks. You're making me jealous. My wife wants to go to Budapest for a weekend in August, I wonder if she would rather go and see Bonn for the 10th time while I peel off for a couple of hours....
