I don't know. But I do know of a German friend who has transplanted the M3 edc shocks to his 1M! He is a car coding genius to get the entire system to work!!

I need to talk to your friend!?

As it shows from WDS, 1 series electric platform was prepared for EDC (or perhaps because it was just copied form 3 series), but commercially it never made it. KW DDC being readily available aftermarket solution, but an existing implementation of the BMW OEM alternative is too good to not look into.

He had a lot of trouble getting the M3 EDC (electronic damping control) to work properly. At first he only got the shocks to work in the "on" and "off" settings. ie too soft or full hard. Now he all three settings.

He had trouble with the 1M steering unit since it was different from the M3 one. He told me he ended up using a com box from a X5M that has a similar problem with all the electronic boxes talking to each other. Once he had all the "right" hardware... he was able to do the rest with simple "coding".

Mechanically yes, which means you'll be able to fit all the parts. The M3 front competition package dampers are in fact equal to the 1M dampers. However M engineers vary the spring rates with every 50 Kg of load. So depending on your cars (corner) weight, you will likely change the suspension behavior.

Assuming the weight of the M3 being higher than the 1M: when using M3 intended springs/coilovers, your 1M suspension will at least feel more firm that it would on the M3.

Sorry for this tease-r pic of my buddy's 1M with EDC transplanted. Sorry I can't give you guys much info on this EDC (shock)project - its kind of top secret. As you can see EDC can be transplanted onto a 1M!
