Got my Volks!! No more run-flats!
Sorry if this should go in wheels/tires forum, but thought there'd be wider readership here.
Came home from work and my wheels and tires were waiting for me-- 19x9.5"/19x8.5 Volk TE37 wheels with Toyo T1R tires. What a difference! Its literally like taking off brick shoes and putting on running shoes. And they look soooo good! Its raining hard and its dark, so pictures will have to wait until tomorrow or Sunday. Check the wheel/tire forum & I'll post them there. The ride is much better--small bumps are much smoother, big bumps feel the same. Less tramlining, but hard to tell if its completely gone with all the rain falling. Same with handling--too much rain. Well, gotta go and stare at them a while. Correction; they're LE, not TE--Thanks, HRC for catching that! Last edited by wheeler; 04-01-2006 at 07:52 PM.. Reason: Wrong model number |

Nice!!! You ordered regular TE37's? Polished lip or no? I can't wait to see pics!!! BTW, do you know the offsets of the rims?
Hopefully mine and some other members here will getting ours soon! Danny

Offsets are 30 in the front and 45 in the rear, with a 15mm H & R Wide Track spacer kit taking the rear to +30. Tires are 235 35 R19 front, 265 30 R19 rear.
With these wheel widths, offsets and spacers the front wheels extend 10mm further (~1/3") than stock, and the rear extend 20mm (~2/3") further than stock. This pretty much corrects the stock setup where the rear wheels look tucked further under the car than the front. (275 width rear tires would probably have done even more to correct it & that's what I'll use when these wear out). Stock 18" 162 w/runflat rear weighs 58lb. Volk 19" w/Toyo weighs 46lb. Front 162 weighs 56 lb, Volk 43 lb. Total unsprung weight reduction 50 lb. For those of you with the patience and self-restraint to wait on the exact offsets so you don't need spacers, my hat is off to you. I'm much too impulsive and impatient to wait! I am not going to carry a spare. I have a 12 volt compressor that plugs into the cigarette lighter, and will carry fix-a-flat and a tire plugging kit. Now I gotta lower it....Add a spoiler...Tint the windows... Add a subwoofer and amp...Oh damn, I'm in the throes of my disease. Oh, and btw, tramlining is reduced by at least 80% even on grooved freeways!!!!!!!!!!!! Last edited by wheeler; 03-31-2006 at 11:01 PM.. |
