Fuel Tank Bad

Went to dealer for air bag recall and they saw a fuel leak. Said the o-ring on the low pressure fuel pump flange was leaking (under access cover under rear seat on passenger side) and replaced it at $360. Still leaked and said the fuel tank flange had warped and needed new fuel tank at $3k. Told them not to do it. Emailed them a few days later and told them the CA emissions warranty also covers MA and included fuel tanks so I should be covered at 70k miles. They agreed and ordered the tank. Will install at no charge next week and refund the $360. BMW plastic lack of longevity bites the consumer again.

Sounds 100% like poor installation of the O-ring, it rolled while tightening. There is good reason you put some light oil on it.

Poly tanks last quite a long time with zero maintenance.
