Not PI but also not DD. Winter stored but available every day when all salt off roads. Not DD as I'm retired. 10½ yrs old now but only about 55K miles.

I have pretty low miles as well. Just over 41K and going on 9 years old (bought in Oct 2010).

The 1 is not a strictly indulgence vehicle for me as its my daily driver. The other ride is a worked C6 Corvette and that takes care of most of my indulgence needs although the 1 isn't stock and is an absolute joy to take out to get the adrenaline up also.

My C6 with just full exhaust (LG Pros), a Ported Fast Intake (Colorado Speed ported it) and "small" cam with tune made slightly over 460/460 to the rear wheels. Also it only weighs around 3100 lbs. I love my 128i and really enjoy driving it. It lets me really work the gearbox in the mountains, while I have to be a little more cautious in the Corvette. Both are fun cars! I have all the parts here waiting for the "1"....3 Stage Intake, Headers, Milvs...and I did the rear diff already. So I'm sure it will be even more of a blast as a DD when I finally get it all together. Also I get to pick up my tires and get my Apex ARC 8 wheels mounted tomorrow. I'm figuring I will be saving about 40lbs of inertial weight...so that will definitely contribute as well.

Its my DD that I drive to work 2x a week (work from home 3 - 4x a week).
If I had to commute every day I'd own something cheaper to maintain, and the 135is I supposed would move into 'weekend fun' territory. |

Lesson learned:
Last year I answered an ad for a 2000 232Ci manual with 87k miles. The seller - lets call him "that guy" bought it new, put it under a cover for the winters, parked in the far right most spot at the end of the lot when he took it out. Had the winter mats over the carpet mats its entire life. Not a single ding on the car, and no paintwork ever. Interior was spotless, and the full leather interior smelled like a new car. The car was beautiful. Still is, but... I flew down with my daughter who was about to get her permit to pickit up. We drove it home - uneventful trip. A month later she learned the stick on it. She also changed the brakes and cooling system. She continued to learn to drive on that beautiful BMW. She is no longer afraid of hills with the clutch. She turned 16 a short time ago and passed her road test. , now she drives it daily, and parks it in a highs school lot. She will autocross it next month. You drive the boring car during the week. You drive the car with the crappy stereo that wallows on the road because you dont want your baby to get a ding. But dont drive the BMW beccause I look forward to buying it from you in a few years when mine is worn out from daily enjoyment. I sold my M Roadster and bought a Cayman S with a few dings and scratches because I was becoming that guy with the M. I put the ribbons from the car shows in the trunk when it was shipped to its new owner. DONT BE THAT GUY! P.S. That guy lived in a very nice house in a gated community, had a nice pickup, and in one of the three garage bays was a new very expensive MB sedan. I think I saw AMG on the back of the car, so he wasnt suffering like some of you with what you are stuck driving daily. Quote:

It's my DD. With the value being down to what it is now I'm happy to daily drive the 11 miles to work = 5,500 miles per year commuting. I do another 2500 give or take running errands, etc. I have just under 65,000 miles and at 8,000 mi. a year I figure I'll hit 100k when my 1er is 15 years old.

Not much lighter. I think my S2 hit 3,000. I meant to compare the Cayman to the 944. Didnt realize it was the same length as the 128i becasue i always pull the 128i in at an angle so it is farther from my wife's SUV driver side. The 128i and Cayman have been next to each other for almost a year.
