I could be wrong here, but you can't paint Carbon Fiber and still see the CF pattern. Painting it will, like painting anything else, cover up whatever is under the paint. The carbon fiber has to be impregnated with color during the manufacturing process.

Sorry I didnt read what you wrote.
The answer is still yes, I have seen black cars that tint them black so it looks to match from 5+ feet but up close it looks cf. Check e90post

It would require you to paint on bare CF...not the clearcoated stuff that aftermarket CF piece are made of. |

In order to see the weave underneath, you will have to paint it in a candy paint, which is opaque, you can see thru it.
A friend of mine has his CF hood painted in a blue candy paint to match his RSX. You can see the CF just fine, it just appears as a darker blue then the rest of the car. You can tell its CF when you are close to it. |

That is the key, making sure it matches. It is very tricky to do properly

Thanks for all the feedback guys! We'll do the official release next week of the one following with a proper pro photoshoot to match.
Regarding painting the carbon lightly to still see the CF underneath, it is tricky, but can be done! I've seen it on Interlagos Blue and it looked really cool. We do custom paint for customers sometimes, but specialty jobs like this we prefer the customer do with a local shop he feels comfortable with |
