speedo buried
I've got a 2011 135 with DCT and M package and have hit 160 on my speedo a number of times. Just this past weekend I was blasting down to Stuttgart behind a Porsche Cayenne and we were doing 160 as noted on my speedo and for the first time I hit my limiter...I could actually feel the car cut throttle a little bit for a second. I was amazed that even doing 160+, I couldn't catch up to him but he also couldn't pull away. In slower traffic I saw he was a Gemballa Bi-turbo modded Cayenne...so I was happy that he wasn't stock.

Are you guys on stock suspension? I have the M Sport package, still feels like the ride is kind of high. When I swerve left or right it just feels like my car is going to flip over at any time. Perhaps I should check my tire pressure or something?

life over 120 mph or 200kph rocks, This car hits 155 very quick and for cruising at 6th gear at 3600 rpm the car goes almost 100mph and can be very economical if you hold it.
ii wanna get to 280.kph |

I would check it out, I am stock and have M Sport as well and am rock solid over 200Km/H and can pretty much not bother to brake when turning left at 50 Km/H without any feeling of body roll.

went 140 in a race against an s5 on one of the highways here late at night...it was a good race in the straights he had NO chance, but in the turns.... well you all know that story - awd vs rwd ... i usually go to about 100-120 about 1-2 times a week if the roads and traffic permit.

I took the demo out, buried the needle by the time I got off the on-ramp onto the autobahn, turned around headed back to the dealer and wrote a check. Just like that.
But now that I'm driving it here in Cali, it's not the same and I'm really considering to sell. It's extremely painful seeing all those unused RPMs knowing full well what I'm missing. But, what's that saying... better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. |

Not curious at all of the top speed...... I know it's fast. If you're in top gear, you're not having any fun....
I've grown up with fast cars, my dad has owned lots of porsches and an asting martin. so top speed doesn't do much for me, I like the handling and knowing i can handle at higher speeds. besides, 50kmh over the speed limit here in ontario, and they impound your car and take your license for a year. or something like that. |

YuP! +1. We really get spoiled while over here in Germany w/Autobahn. I know I will miss it sorely when I leave. When ever I do.
Btw... I think a 135i with no speed limitor would go another 10 or 15 mph, but thats just a guess bc the car really doesn't slow down acellerating at 155mph like other cars do. You know when they scratch and claw for those last few mph's. I have seen on the German 1erforum people claim that a chipped 135i will do 290+. Some have said 320 kph on the speedo. Thats nuts. I know two weeks ago when I was over at the 'Ring the nice guys at DigiTech said their ecu flash would bring the top speed of my 135i to 296kph. They wanted 1,600 euros for their tune. But the guy came down to 1,000 euros. That is still too rich for my blood. Btw just the speed limitor delete was 900 euros!!! Bottom line is that 1er feels too "nervous" at anything more than 110mph. I'd say its ok to drive up too 130mph. But from 130 to 155 mph - it is a handfull with the way the car feels nervous and wants to track strangely. This car ain't no Porsche at speed! But still its a good car. Just not the V-max weapon of choice - I think. |
