I agree it is very expensive for so little HP. We are probably talking over $100 per HP.
How do you get that number? Does a stock N54 put out 300 crank horsepower? No, it dosent.

Why is it taking so long? I might install the extra radiator and other hardware that allegedly comes with the bmw power kit and keep my dinan software.

I figure if bmw believes the car needs extra cooling hardware with minimal hp gains of the factory kit software.. it definitely needs it with dinan (or other aftermarket software).

Even if it came out soon its somewhat late in the season for me, itll be cold around here in 2 months or so and my 1 will be garaged. But the winter will give time for me to read reviews on it etc. if it ever comes out! lol

You can order the kit in germany now.
If you order its there within 3 days.

It would be 1600 Euro including install for me (1900 Euro usually).

So about $2700 with a direct conversion. What all does it actually include? If it has the additional fan and secondary oil cooler along with the software, it's pricey but not terribly expensive.

Hmmm... I wonder if a warranty would be honored by BMWUSA. I'd say wait a month or two more, fellas. I would hate for something to go wrong and you end up SOL. There is plenty of fine print to get caught up in.

Guys the kit will be available soon, likely during the release of the 2010 models. It's coming.... we are anxious as well. I've been on the phone trying to call BMW daily about this.. just for you addicts!!!! The kit doesn't really do anything for me, I have an E46! ... secretly wishing upon a 1

Right - I forgot it included the cooler (isn't it a secondary water cooler, though?) and fan, too. I was thinking it'd be $2700 just for the flash.

Wonder what the price would be for *just* the cooler + fan, if someone wanted to get a different flash....?

Sorry, but BMW NA is too damn slow

Hi,

I went to a dealer nearby and he received a notification today, which includes the part numbers for the BMW Performance Power Kit.

Here they are:

11122157663 - for cars with MSD81
11122157664 - for cars with MSD80

There is also a number (I don't know if its a part number) for the installation instructions, but I didn't note it.

The power kit is almost ready to be ordered, it can already be ordered from Germany. The dealer said it should be in the ordering system in a few days...

Now I know where a good part of my next month's earnings will be gone...

Why on earth haven't they given us at least an extra 40bhp with this mod. I just don't think I can justify the cost for a tiny amount of added power. That said I don't want to risk a remap because of the warranty. Its very frustrating.

£1688 in the UK plus 5 hours fitting (3.5 to do the job and 1.5 for coding)

My dealer charges £111 per hour for labour.

So, all up, £2247 for 20hp.

Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know the Alpina version of this engine puts out 360hp with only modified pistons and no supplementary cooling?

I suppose the hp increase is understated, for various reasons. I expect at least 10% power increase (~25whp or 30 crank hp).

I don't think many can justify £2247 for 20hp. It's going to take some independent dyno results to confirm "underrated" power increases and that will require some serious dedication to take the financial hit for the benefit of the #35i community!

I'm in, assuming it ever makes it to US dealers. At this rate it will coincide with the 15k service stop.
