I think I can do better with aftermarket components, especially for the price. I'm expecting BMW's Peformance suspension to be too soft. Any impressions? I'm coming from an Evo 8 daily driver into the 135i for my DD. I don't mind a harsh ride as long as it works in the curves.

EDIT: after reading the quotes re: Bimmer mag's review of the Performance Suspension... I think I will have to consider it! Probably will buy the parts from Dan @ United and have my alignment guy install them. cool!

if u gonna do aftermarket on susp why not for performance? you will get much more out of procede/jb3/jb+ than the power kit. just a thought

def a better option power wise than the perf. kit.... i do like the added cooling options, but i dont think you can add those parts individually since they are connected thru the power kit tune.

bc auto has a greater tq loss than 6MT, so trying to compensate.

I doubt it. More likely the auto is rated to handle more power than the MT.

With the higher performance fan and auxiliary coolant radiator in the fender, it should help keep coolant temps down but has anyone heard to what effect, if any, the kit will have on reducing oil temps...especially on track days?

Duct work alone is 200 bucks and the main kit is 1795. Sure yor dealer has to install for them to warranty it. Getting estimate of labor hrs. I'm guessing 3 them how ever long to reflash the ecu for the bump in hp. I like the kit but think it's 700 over priced. The concept is great and would love to have the extra piece of mind that the cooling system is up to par or better. I'm sure with a bigger fmic your cooling needs are met. Not sure what the boost is raised to I'm guessing 5 or 6 psi

^^Agree. Would have considered it if it was in the $1K range, but $2K+ is not going to pull in too many people from the aftermarket.

I think you will be surprised at how many people order it on their cars or pay the extra to have it installed and financed with the rest of the purchase. $2000 is nothing to someone who is shopping based on monthly payment. Most everyone here probably knows that is a bad idea, but it is probably a very high percentage of car buyers in this segment.

Labor is esimated at around 6hrs. So I was quoted 645 in labor. So grand total installed 2635 plus tax. WOW. don't think I'll be making that investment anytime soon. I will double check if they will warranty it if I install it but something is telling me NO lol

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i don't think FMIC cools your engine. It's for cooling the air going into the engine.

That is correct, but the BMW kit also includes a larger radiator fan to help engine cooling also, so multiple cooling needs are met.

Uhhh ya it lowers the charge air going into intake. U should read this book called turbo charging 101 it's on amazon.com I was simply stating that this kit will lower temps mainly engine coolant temp which most have found is the issue on hot track days and not oil temp. I'm totally for extra oil coolers long as the psi drop is minimal which usually is the case. Bascially any forced inducted car will benefit greatly by a very efficient FMIC and cooling system(radiator and oil cooler) the turbos produce intense heat naturally and like I've always said cold air intakes are nearly impossible with forced inducted cars due to the air getting heated up far more than any intake can cool. Truly the best intake for the 135i is the stock setup with a good flowing filter element. Ask Any real car junkie and they will tell you FLOW is more important than temp in regards to intakes(unless your stock intake is prone to very bad heat soak or very restrictive) now cooler air is usually better since the molecules are tightly compacted vs. Hot warm air and cold air is burns more efficiently. I would like to know the ambient temp where max efficiently is created. Lol. Sry for off topic but trust me I know what the he'll I'm talkkg about

LOL, in my experience, when someone goes to the trouble of telling you they know what they are talking about, they usually don't. Case in point, there's no book titled "Turbo Charging 101" on Amazon....

That's a pretty ignorant statement as this is a forum which is suppose to be used to help others gain knowledge on a particular topic. And yes I was being a smartass when I said checkout a book called turbo charging 101. Turbo charging hp49 turbo design and street turbo charging are great books I've read and are always great references. Again staying on topic would be ideal I just couldn't resist when a poster misunderstood my post about the performance kit and a FMIC meeting most peoples cooling needs. It's all good things get misunderstood all the time in txt.
