I picked up some Zaino Z-12 Glass Polish a couple of days ago. I too have some light scratches on my glass. I'll try it out this weekend and post my results if interested.

Ok, I'll try my best to take before/after pictures. The scratches are really, really light and can only be seen at the right viewing angle with the right amount of light. I will try applying it by hand first. If that doesn't work, I'll use my DA polisher. |

Just smash your windshield and get it replaced by your insurance. Brand new windshield.

I'm sure you would still have a deductible? Depending on your insurance it could be high! As for the glass H1 post some pics! I am interested in future product for my glass on other cars too..

I second the Griot's recommendation. I've polished the windshields annually on my cars for several years now using the Griot's glass polish and their random orbital buffer. It takes me less than 30 minutes and the results are amazing each time. And, if you're in an area that gets a fair amount of rain, your wipers will work so well after you polish the windshield that you'll wonder why you never did it before! I'm not sure if polishing will take care of light surface scratches in the glass, but it wouldn't hurt to try. Griot's offers two grades of glass polish, fine and regular. For purposes of removing a light scratch, I think the latter is probably better suited.

Sounds like the Griots product is very good, I'll have to try it out sometime. From my experiences the Glass Science Glass Scrub is outstanding as well. Removes watermarks, sap, road grime, etc. so you can see much better, even in bad weather.

Since you have a buffer you can permanently buff out the scratches with the Lake Country Pro Glass Polishing Kit with Rain-X. Let me know if you have any questions.

Update: Zaino Z-12 Glass Polish
Round 1: Ok, I had a little time this weekend to try out Zaino Z-12 on one rear quarter panel glass. Cleaned the glass with Stoner's first, then I applied it by hand using a foam applicator pad. Applied using a moderate amount of pressure. Let dry, and then buffed off with a microfiber. It dusts quite a bit, so be sure to tape off trim/crevices or wash your car afterwards. Results? Did not remove any of the light scratches. It removed my coat of Rain-X though. After the test I washed my car. It was a really hot, sunny day. The water on the test glass dried really quickly and formed some nasty water spots. I couldn't believe how fast they set in. I couldn't remove them with Stoner's or Poor Boy's Spray and Wipe. Some of the other glass had water spots but they were easily wiped off with Stoner's since the glass still had a coat of Rain-X. Round 2: This time I applied Zaino Z-12 with a microfiber applicator pad. Much easier to apply and it did not dust as much as the foam applicator pad. Used moderate pressure. Water spots were removed successfully. After that I re-applied Rain-X to all of my glass to prevent future water spots. Results: What does Zaino Z-12 remove? Surface contaminants? Yes Water spots? Yes Light scratches? No Next week I might apply it with my PC to see if it makes a difference on the scratches. |

HISI808 thanks for the review!! Am unhappy to hear that it didn't work out.
I'm going to try out diamondite.. From reviews it seems to be good at removing scratches because you actually polish it with the machine.. |

If you want to permanently remove ultra fine scratches you'll definitely need the help of a buffer and a serious glass polishing system like the Lake Country Pro Glass Polishing Kit with Rain-X. Remember glass is much harder than the clear coat so the polishes have to be designed for this surface.
