Folding Mirrors

Is there a way to get the folding mirrors to fold in on lock and re-open on unlock without coding changes? Im not missing and idrive setting or something?

Much invloved with recoding this stuff? Ive had a search and found fairly limited stuff.

Good question. Although I hardly use this function. In fact, today was the first time I used whilst parked at Potts Point for brekkie.

BMW used to have this function just like the current benz and Lexus , but they all of sudden cancelled it.

I have searched for the net for solution but unfortunately there is nothing u can do unless you purchase a kit from a US company which will offer this function, but it cost more than $300.

Other than that, we can't DIY to enable this features.

Yeah ok, i thought DIY might be a bit beyond, but you can derfinitely have it coded to do as such + alot of other things, might just have to go down that path. Maybe SouthernBM can do it at the next service...

As far as I know, there is no option for auto fold mirror in the coding, (if u check out the latest 7 series, they haven't got the auto folding mirror too), so they can't activate it. But this is on the US side, not 100% sure for Australian model.

Just wanted to add to this thread. Successfully coded my 2010 E70 X5 today. Mirrors now fold in and out with lock/unlock. Remote trunk now closes as well as opens and removed all the disclaimers from iDrive. Just how i wanted it now!

Took a fair bit of reading and frigging around to get all the programs and cables working, but was worth it.

Wow, I'd pay for just the above!

BMW Dealership quoted me $650 to have the side mirrors fold in & out when you lock or unlock your car.

Damn expensive, total rip-off.

I would love to get rid of the annoying idrive nag screen. How difficult was it/ what equipment did you use? I'm also in Melbourne...

Its definately do-able.

Takes about 5 minutes with the correct software and cable setup.

It was one of the first mods I did to my BMWs

Can we have electronic speedo coded onto our dash clusters like the E9X M3? That's one thing I miss that I've got in my other cars.

Folding mirrors on lock would be a neat feature too!

Who can do this in Sydney?

Edit: Duh! Luster, i just noticed you offer coding services in Sydney! What else can be done?

Investment in a $100 approx cable from eBay, free software and plenty of time and you should be able to do various coding yourself.

As mentioned www.************** is a good place to start.

Various things include tv/DVD in motion, folding mirrors, idrive disclaimer, digital speed display, speedometer showing accurate speed, warning gongs etc are all possible.

I ordered my cable today so the fun awaits when I have the time to get my head around the software!

Looks like that link is censored... Must be a no-no... probably an agreement between the board admins and BMW...

Can someone link me to the right cable - just so I don't go buying something dodgy?
