Anyone in Perth end up getting one of these cables?

No problem at all... I'm on the Southside. Will post up when I get the cable and have a chance to see if I can work out how the hell it works - it looks more complex software wise than VAGCOM was!!!

Hi Simon

Just ordered one - will advise once it arrives. Happy to work together on this - 2 heads are (almost) always better than one!

In the meantime, reading up on the BMW coding forum and D/L software in preparation.

Personally, I am most excited about losing the lame iDrive warning, adding a digital speedo (have driven a different car that had this and it was great) plus getting the mirrors to fold on locking.

Cheers

Paul

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but can you code "remote-start"? It would be handy coming into the winter months.

LOL, this will be funny - what do you call a collection of 135s? A posse perhaps?

My wife's 123d will be feeling very humble in such company.

Sounds like the start of a plan anyway. Happy to have this at my place, we have plenty of parking space, and garage space for activity, even if it will mean having to park the new X3 outside... .

Please all bear in mind that whilst I have ordered the cable, and have done similar on VWs, this is a whole new world on BMWs for me, so we are all going to have to be in this together. I.e. if it screws up don't blame me...

Paul - I am also reading on the BMW coding forum, and have downloaded various bits of software etc., ready for when the cable arrives. When / if you work stuff out, if you can share that would be great.

Simon.

Hi Simon

FYI - have received the cable and successfully performed my first few coding jobs - the typical low hanging fruit - delete legal disclaimer on Idrive, digital speedometer and folding mirrors.

Quite a bit of messing around to get the software installed and configured, versions etc.

The coding itself is quite easy, especially if you take it easy and back up everything as you go.

Let me know if you are interested in making some changes to your car and I will be happy to help out. Same offer applies to any Perth based members.

Coding sessions - Tupperware parties for MEN!

Cheers

Paul

That would be cool. I just want to disable the idrive warning screen, disable headlight washers and enable 'remote-start' if that is possible.
