floor mats with rubber odor, how do I get rid of it?

Hey,,.. I have a set of OEM carpet mats and got a set of aftermarket all season plastic matts. The problem is that the aftermarket rubber (plastic)matts have a very strong smell... smell like rubber tires.. what can I use to kill or neutralize the odor?

Uhhhhh...how about getting rid of the aftermarket mats and getting OEM rubber? Do you really want to ruin your new car smell with that crap?

They're just "gassing", it will go away in 2-3 weeks or thereabouts.

OEM all season mats smell like rubber tires awfully as well. I bought them and had them in my apt for two weeks before I bought my car and they smelled the entire two weeks, and another half week after until I put them in garbage bags. Decided it was warm enough to keep in the carpets for the summer..

After a few weeks the smell started to calm down. Maybe try taking them out and high pressure wash them and wipe them down or something?? The e90 is much more of a confined space then the apt, so I could imagine how bad it smells. Maybe you could leave them outside for a while to air out??

If you clean them well with armorall and let them air out, that helps some. Yes, the smell will gradually go away even if you leave them alone.

maybe wash them? u dont want to over inundate your car with deodorizers.
