I still think that it's a relative bargain, but not anywhere near the kind of deal that some were fantasizing about.
If you fully equip a 335i coupe, you're topping $50k. The 135i coupe is a tremendous value, IMO.

So basically 5K less than the comparable 3-series...

Not bad, but definitely not good. I'm not going to be running down to put down a deposit anytime soon. I'll have to be REALLY impressed in a test drive to buy at all...

I guess a 128 with xenons and heated seats could be had (after the hoopla dies down) for 30K, 32K OTD..

<--- was hoping for MSRP of 28 or so...

Suspect Nav, Autotran, and most of the standalone options to track with the 3 series pricing.

Bring on the configurator!!!
what's your best guesstimate on premium and auto sir?

Repeating my point just one more time. This is all about business. Two things.

1. Cost
2. Cannot cannibalize 3-series

Plus the statement of "mid-30's and under 30k". Do the math.

I know a lot of people are disappointed with the announcement, but the prices seem reasonable to me. So, I am looking forward to playing around with the configurator when it goes up.

Well, you need $1.5 for 1 Euro, this doesn't help...
(I beleive, only the X5 is built in Spartanburg, South Carolina? May be the X3 will be transfered from Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria?)

Premium is going to hard to judge - I haven't done a real good look at the differences between what's in the Premium Package on the 3 series vs the 1 series.

I'd suspect that the automatic will be same price as the 3 series.

Don't forget that the price includes 4 years/ 50,000 miles free service and they'll give you a 135i loaner when your baby is in the shop. Honda and Acura will call you a cab and Acura will charge you $150 for the first oil change where BMW will treat you like royalty and there will be no charge. Bimmers rock!

I think that price is pushing it. I wish they could have come in 200 lbs lighter or $2,000 dollars cheaper.

At that price, they're going to be going up against the $34,250 330 HP G37 that will likely be better equipped at a lower price.

That price will also put them well above the WRX STi and Mitsu EVO.

I've seen the hatch in Turkey and it is a pretty small car. At 6'3", I may not be comfortable while inside or getting in or out. This pricing certainly makes it a premium, if small offering and they won't exactly be flying out the door IMO. A nice compliment to the line though. Even if I could fit in reasonable comfort, I have no plans to consider one unless they introduce a diesel.

Here's a good link on pricing, for comparison purposes (no 1er pricing in it - and good for US pricing only) - this is a bimmerfest wiki:

That's just foolish. Thanks for taking lots of my money BMW! Bend me over a little more. The car is a hopped up economy car... It's way overpriced.

I was previously prepped.
My Atlanta Sales Manager informed me months ago.

So, with the Sport package that would be $_____?
Somebody fill in the blank for this girl Pleez! I've been too busy working to keep up with the figures.

.....very unimpressive....styling misses the mark.....heavy, and unfortunately nowhere near as fast as I would have expected from 330 hp.......the only + is the interior is far nicer than my 04 G.....

Exactly, and the comments about exclusivity is stupid by those who posted.

I own a 2003 M3, you can pick one up 2004 for well under 35K, why would I want this overpriced compact turbo car now?

Not buying it for 40K+ out the door.

Rather buy a G37S or used something else...

Enjoy your overpriced BMW everyone...I am out...for at least 2 years until the price of these in the used market come a tumbling down...then you will pick one up for $21K with 30K miles no problem.
