That sucks! I fear the same, but Dave @ Russell BMW is really cool - he said he won't prep/wash/front plate/dealer-brand the car or anything for me. Said he gets the request quite a bit.
There are some awesome detailing threads on here with amazing results, should contact one of those dudes to hook you up.

I'll probably do it myself, I did full detail on my previous car. I was just wondering if there were any precautions I should take with new paint...

I don't think there's any special precautions that need to be taken with these newer cars and newer paint technology. I.e. you don't need to wait 3 months for the paint to cure or anything like that.
I did a 2 step on my 135 right after I got it. I went "easy" on the 1st step and only really hit a few spots that needed it. Menzerna SIP and SF/nano polish. Removed all the dealer installed swirls and made me smile |

if u want all the best info regarding care of ur car, go to autogeek.net it has all the steps for any kind of info ur seeking. i just got a 128i and followed the steps recommended (proper washing technique with the 2 bucket system, followed by claying, the light swirl remover, then sealant, then wax..) always thought i knew everything, but after checking autogeek, realized didnt really know too much. lot of work, but well worth it.

no I don't have a machine polisher, my last one broke. I need a new one though.
