Even then, 1-2 of them are actually reliable and street-able. A 600 whp 135i would be retarded. BRB gears 1-3 being useless. When it's all said and done and you've got a barely streetable drag monster that will probably get you locked up for speeding; you could have had a nice down payment on a FBO 996/997 with 550+ usable awhp. Pioneering anything BT where you have to worry about the block, transmission, fueling, and other components is a headache.
$35 - $40k all said and done and you can have a 600whp+ n54 after buying the car doing necessary maintenance, buying the kit, and appropriate mods to go with it. Not a bad deal at all if you ask me. Tranny isn't an issue unless you are auto, the engine will take the power reliably, and it all comes with a nice interior.

To each their own. I just think spending that much money to make a car that no one will pay anywhere near the residual of what you sunk into it is a losing man's proposition. 35-40k isn't a small chunk of change either. It's not just like, mehh 40k no biggie. Plus, I'd be willing to bet a lot of guys are modding their 1ers before they're paid off. Hell, even some of them mod on lease. I'm just stating my personal opinion that dropping anywhere from 10k plus on aftermarket is sheer insanity. Then again, it's relative to income, lifestyle, net worth, etc.

That's exactly why there are so many different options and routes to take and SERIOUS thought has to be weighed when deciding on how far to go and when enough is enough. For guys that will be going to an extreme level of modding it's not about return on investment or long term financial benefits. It's all about the passion for the platform and the smile on the face that all that power brings... and that's exactly why we do what we do
