Color Code location

Hate to ask such a simple question, but I have searched and researched and have come up with nothing.

So... where is the color code on a 135i coupe? I saw a reference to the left front strut brace, and there is an 8 digit number stamped into it, but no indication as to what that number is.

Thanks!

It should be on your dealer paperwork. If you need to order touch up paint, you can order by the generic name. The codes are listed on this web site which gives all of the touch up paint colors - under Care Care and Detail/Touch up paint.

Thanks! I had seen it on the order sheet, but wasn't sure if the order code and the "paint code" were the same. Every other car I've checked for a paint code had a sticker or plaque, usually on the driver's door. I've seen them on the strut towers in other BMWs. Just in case, down the line, the dealer order forms aren't available to the current owner.

Lift up the hood. The paint code is on a label located on the strut tower. BMW puts the labels either on the underside of the hood or the strut tower. It's a 3 digit code. AW is 300, Black is 668, Metallic black is 472, etc. I don't know Crimson Red off the top of my head but I can get it tomorrow if you can't find it.

This is what I expected, and it could be that the boys at the dealership removed it when they installed the Dinan suspension, but I don't see anything like a paint code label. VIN is stamped in the right tower, and some odd 8 digit number on the left, and that's it! Could somebody check under the hood and see if there is actually a label there?

On my July 2, 2009 135i, the code label is on the underside of the hood very near the front, on the left side close to the latch. Code 354/7 TITANSILBER METALLIC.

I couldn't find any reference to color code on any sticker anywhere on my car today. Until I read that last post, and it is there. Thanks, Dick_w!

Thanks Dick_W! You have to hand it to those clever Bavarians, I never would have looked there! (You basically have to stick your head under the hood and look up.) And it blends right in with my Jet Black paint, same as Lester's. Reminds me of an filled plastic Easter egg I hid a couple of years ago that has never been found.

Just a note, and I don't know if this makes any difference, but for my 2008 Jet Black the label code is 668/9, yet the code on the order sheet is just 668. I don't know whether or not you need the "/9" for an exact match.

My label code is also 668/9 - not sure what the /9 is for either.
