Cool Mark! Options suck. We should have only one car available too. And one jean company. Only Hanes undies, etc. Your mentality is solid.

We've also got TRMs for very cheap. And realistically, running 17s, there are a bunch of options (All the 42 offsets should work).

Clearly these aren't for you. As I said -- some of us run bigger brakes than stock and need / prefer running 18s.

The more options the better. And the market is no where close to being served.

Sorry, never mind, please go ahead and sink your money into this. It's a great plan and you'll definitely profit...

17x9.5 is the size I want and there are only 1-2 wheels that come close to fitting our cars in this size.

17x9.5 ET52 with 275 wide tires and a 12-15mm spacer up front. Problem is, this is not exactly a square setup. Realistically you need to run 17x9.5 ET30 F:R but that requires cutting and flaring the rear fenders to work. That is what I plan to do. Flare the rear with some 1" or 2" flares.

18" tires are significantly more expensive than the same tires in 17" sizes. 18" wheels also require lower profile tires like 30 series to maintain the same tire diameter... 18" also weighs more. All of this offsets any placebo effect you feel from a shiny expensive BBK.

I am frequently amused by folks who put ginormous brakes on the car for either street use, or don't bother to duct the car or run a reasonable pad choice for the weight of the car. I guess those don't look very cool.

It didn't. While the interest on the surface seemed good enough to do a run of production, only two/three people messaged me with specs and verbal commitment. I tried!

Well shit.

Apex or bust then? Or did you find other good options. I've been looking.

For stock body, it looks like APEX is the easiest and cheapest, but I gotta say, I bend these wheels SO easily. Not sure if anyone else has the same experience, I drive hard on the track, but that's their whole market. I won't be buying them again. The buyback and discount on the next wheel is nice after a bend, but then again, I think it wouldn't be offered if the wheels were strong enough to handle the abuse.

If you want to spend more for a stronger wheel and are interested in doing an 18x9 square setup like I ran, I was going to go for these if I kept the stock fenders on the car. 18x9 +45 squared.

Hm. What about the GTC01RR from enkei RR? What fenders are you going for now.

The bimmerworld TA16s look pretty compelling for narrowbody cars. Most of the same ARC 8 sizes and offsets. The 17 inch options even look like they can accommodate a 355mm ST60. Also becoming super popular among grassroots racers. The majority of BMWs at the 25hr thunderhill enduro were on the TA16s

This post sounds like an ad but there are so few options for our cars, and these are pretty cheap for a forged wheel

Cut them fenders! It's not that bad. Now I'm running Apex 18's w/ ET22 offsets and 275's square.

The BimmerWorld wheels are made by Titan7, ironically enough. Great wheels for a great price.

I run 1M front fenders and am converting the rear to full 1M spec as well. Will be running 18x9.5 +20 Volk ZE40s for a bit, but considering having some Fikse wheels built in 18x10 +25

Not a track rat, but the TA16s are amazing wheels at an amazing price. I've got the 17x8.5 ET40s (yes, the ST60 fitment template fits). 10,000-ton forged wheels (that's 20 million pounds, or 9071847.4 kg..!), 16.75 pounds (7.6 kg) each on my HFT postal scale, and $349.99 US shipped (on sale).

Yup, I was referring to the feedback you gave. They look great in that machined finish on your car.

Actually been mulling over the idea of a 17" rear and 18" front for more meat out back.

With the 1er being a small market, we haven't had the most options for specific wheel fitments, especially super light, strong, forged, and good looking. I'm curious how many of you feel this and would be interested in seeing a new option.

I've been talking to Titan7, who have recently launched their line of forged, lightweight, track-spec wheels for specific platforms that we often see on track: M3, S2K, Evo, FRS/BRZ, etc... I hit them up to gauge interest in building some for us. If there's interest, meaning 5 or more people, we could probably do a small batch.

Details: FORGED and strong AF
>18lbs a piece
Massive clearance for even the biggest brake kits
Price would be between $1780-$1840 for the set.

There are a lot of conservative fitments and trends on this platform, but I prefer to run more on the aggressive side, with wide wheels and tires for maximum grip. I also run plenty of camber and a track alignment. I don't think this setup will be for everyone, but that's why I'm posting it in the track section.

You could either run a square setup with the front fitment, or staggered.

Front: 18x9 +40 (I can confirm this fits with a 255/35/18 Nexen Sur4G, -3* camber, KW coilovers with 7" spring) You can easily run this out back as well for a square setup.)

Rear: 18x9.5 +5x (I know APEX does +58, but that looks pretty conservative and I've heard some inboard clearance issues arise with wide tires and lots of camber. I'd like to test fit these out back to see where we should go. Guessing somewhere around +50-55)

For me, the goal is to run this setup with 265 front, 275 rear. More conservatively, you could run 255 front, 265 rear.

What wheel design would you prefer and how many of you would be willing to go for this? Genuinely care about this platform and am hoping to help create some new life for it. Wheels are just phase one of my plans.

For reference, here is my car running 18x9 +42 squared. 3mm spacer up front is just for piece of mind, but they actually clear without. Front offset is now effective +39. Tires are 255/35/18 Nexen Sur4G, which run super wider and are closer to most 265s.

I NEED this for my 2 series!

Fitment, FWIW. Tons of room on the 135i/Performance calipers.
