I think we should exhaust this option first. Can we reach out to Matt Rusell? I have tried but no response. On the ring I prefer stock looking and would buy one for sure but prefer the French 35 of 150 plaque from BMW . Otherwise stock looking ring is good.

Replies in this thread should be strictly related to the topic.

Im not trying to be a dick but the guy is donating his personal time, effort, and expertise. I know how hard it is to spearhead a project for such a large group and its easy to stray from the topics at hand. Continuing to add options or variables only makes it more difficult.

If someone wants to formally take the duty to contact BMWNA and see if they can get them to step up and do this for the people that have purchased a 1M then please step up in this thread and keep us posted with the developments.

Otherwise we need to narrow down the options Metak has presented to us.

I think its clear most people want the ring over the plaque because it gives the most OEM look. It replaces an existing piece and can be reversed back to exact OEM specs when needed. If Metak is doing a ring and letting the rest of us piggyback on his project then there is no plaque option here. A group of people who prefer the plaque can start a parallel project for that. No offense to that group, its a great idea, but this isnt where its going to happen.

As far as color... I would think they could make batches in various colors. I may be wrong but Metak if you could clear up for us.... does the entire run have to be in the same material/color?

Willing to pay for aluminum. What I really want is door sills with my exact production number.

I like the 1 of 740 ring idea. Maybe even with the ///M below as someone mentioned before.

I agree with others, I would prefer something as close to OEM color as possible.

i emailed BMW NA lets see what they say, if nothing comes from their end, i'd go with the start/stop or a plaque, both sound like a great idea

Just speaking from experience. BMW NA is useless. Im actually surprised that you guys got sales numbers out of them. Theyve never released those numbers to me from 2008 sales breakdowns.

I think it's an important distinction to make that we got numbers from ///M NA not BMW NA. More specifically Matt Russell, who took it upon himself to get and release these numbers. My opinion is that if it were up to BMW NA it wouldn't have happened.

I'm in for a ring..my preference would be something that looks the same as OEM sliver if possible. If not, then an orange to match the stitching.

A "BIG" thanks for doing all the work and effort.

I advise avoiding any specialty colors like orange and just try to get it done with an OEM look. The survey is showing that at least 1/3 of the people would pay up to $50. I would to, if it looked OEM finish. I think this is case of "if you make it, they will buy." I also think you should stick with your initial design. It says everything and will look understated when made.

Willing to pay $49.99

Solid black or orange.

One of 740 Motorsport Limited or One of 749 Motorsport Limited 1 Series M Coupe.

Thanks again for taking the time to do this Metak.

Also, for people who keep bringing up the plaque, there is no reason why you can't have this and the plaque!

+1. Only this. If it looks OEM I would be interested, no plastic stuff.

I think its a really cool idea honestly.

One of my favorite parts about getting in my car is pushing the button and seeing Year one of the 1 around my finger.

It reminds me that im driving something special. Id like to see it happen for you guys, and not that it means much from me, but the starter ring is a better idea IMO

I think it's a great idea and thanks for the effort. I would get one if I had a 1M, but is there any way that BMW would change their minds and continue with production on the 1M or is 740 really it?
