Nexus 7 power help
Hey guys,
Just recently finished my dash mount nexus 7 install, and im loving everything about it, except this one little thing. I grabbed power by deleting the ashtray and using the cigarette lighter socket to plug in a 4amp usb charger, the tablet is programmed to automatically sleep and wake on power. Now the issue is, that this ciggarette lighter is only powered when the engine is on, whereas the cigarette lighter under the armrest is on during acc (engine off but key in). Is there anyway to code the ashtray lighter to be on during acc? I would like to use the tablet after i have turned the engine off. Any insight is appreciated, thanks |

I wish I could help with the coding aspect, but my experience is very limited in that department. Honestly, I'd just run an extension - hardwired to the socket under the armrest. You'll be able to free both sockets this way and accomplish accessory power to your tablet.

I feel your pain, but I'm sure you'll be satisfied if you do go that route.
I'll be doing the same soon, but I have yet to permanently install my tablet because I'm hating the fact that I can't fit either of my 8" tablets in the stupid flip-up housing. Btw, did you use a housing variant or a mount?

Ahh ya thats a nuisance. I used the same mount as this: http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=69189
Works super nice with the nexus, 7 inch screen is perfect in there. |

Lucky you. The only vendor I've found with those is in Germany and not willing to ship to the US
I'm jealous of the styling because while mine is an OEM part, that one definitely complements the interior much more nicely. That and the install is simplified due to not having to make custom "flush" plugs for power and auxiliary. I've lost so much motivation in mine that right now, I have the base of the flip-up housing sitting in the gaping hole I cut, with the plastic cutting debris still all over the dash, and a Galaxy Tab E(AT&T freebie) sitting in there completely unused. It's probably dead in fact.
