The more 135i combo's I look at the better looking this car gets....
I think we have a classic here, and 6 months from now most people that bagged on our 1's looks are going to start wishing they ordered one early
p.s. Someone get a boat to my car waiting at the docs!

lol i think you might be missing a few words in your sentences and the post is in the wrong section.
Regardless I was one of those you described. I didnt think the e82 was very attractive but I have def changed my mind. 35k base 300 hp rwd mtech body kit what more could i ask for. Im hoping the lease rates become a bit more reasonable within the yr.

Not many cars offer so many color combo's. The 135i looks great in all colors. And our opinions make us choose the best for ourselves.
And the best for me is Alpine/Coral/Gloss black trim/sport pkg. |

I agree....
Did you happen to read the M/T article EVO vs 135i? I just saw last night, great article. Also had an article on GXP (saying it's a poor man's M5). You see this in other mags too, interestingly how most cars are compared to BMWs in one way or the other. So, my new baby is sitting on the dock with yours......this part sucks.......waiting on a frickin' ship. |

The 1-Series is indeed an awesome car! But classic? Did the '97 Boxster become a classic?

I am quite sure the 1's relacement will be a much better performer as well! So, I really question the whole "classic" thing. Of course, I HOPE so... but I just doubt it.

its a great car and you can think what you want but its no classic... and before you diss the boxster it has become the standard for all roadster comparisions.... i remember when I bought my first Z4...the boards were full of people patting themselves on the back and saying how they got in early on future classic car...you see where thats gone... |

Definitely not a classic. Ok looking but not something people are going to collect in 30 years (unless BMW only makes a single model year)
Most people haven't even got the car yet and those who do have it have only just begun driving. Give it a year or two or three to pass final judgement. It prevents you from looking foolish if your prediction turns out poorly (Bush's Mission Accomplished sign??) |

It's a classic....but in my mind only. Allow me a little explanation. I'd love a 70's 911 Turbo....but, can't afford it (buy or run costs). Same for most other classics; add that safety with my 4 year old in it also comes to play. So, comes along a 135i - a car I can drive like a careful dad when needed and like the teenager (with 20 years behind the wheel) when possible. I can't imagine a better way to spend $40 grand. In my mind, it'll always be my first true sports coupe, my first bimmer.....another words...a classic. If anyone else thinks so 5 years, 10 years or 30 years from now will likely not make a big difference to my experience. I love the 1 and can't wait to get behind the wheel.....she gets to port tomorrow...and she will be named.....Lola; after the german movie Run Lola Run. And run.....she will! Classic.

Ok not being an true classic car enthusiast perhaps my usage of the term "classic" was a little much. I guess what I was trying to say was that I believe the 1 is going to be a very popular car for BMW. The more combos I see the better it just keeps looking. I think the looks will continue to grow on people.

At the time, the M roadster was top dog. Better than the S2000, Boxster, CLK, and the Audi TT. No offense to the Z4 fans, but the Chris Bangle Z4 special, killed BMW's roadster share. ...and nothing personal Boxster fans.
