How can you get an M sport kit standard and no 18's? I understand that they will want you to upgrade of course, but if that's the case, make the sport kit an option as well...and maybe its the angle, but those don't look like 18's to me--I was guessing 17's....

TDC, what's the weight of the 135i, I MUST KNOW THE WEIGHT!!!!!!!!

Please tell me. I know the 130i is 3076, Please tell me the 135i is no more then 3,150! Please!

With forged wheels, ps2's and aftermarket Turboback exhaust it would get down to 3,080!!! YES!

I really have no idea. Sorry. :frown:

Official communication regarding the 1-series will be released in July. I'm hoping that information will be included.

Thanks for all this valuable information TDC !!!

Here in canada the 135i is going to compete against the Audi A3 3.2 Sline which cost 45690$CAN
An e92 328i costs 43600$CAN so I imagine the 135i will be between 43000 and 46000$ CAN which is more expensive then what have been expected on this forum.....
I m sure we will also have a 123i as we have a 323i

About the sunroof and the M package this is to compete against the A3 3.2 which has sunroof and Sline standard

brembo brakes is interesting !! Could someone tell me if those are the brakes we find on the M cars?
Could someone also explain me how does a LSD works and why it should be important to have one?

Thx

BMW UK has the 130i M Sport 5-door listed at 26,915 pounds....
that's $53,795 US.

Ouch. What's a 135i going to cost?? What's an M1 going to cost?????

tdc is the 1 series going to cost more than the 3 series? I find that to be a strange way to price your product???

have u seen the price of the 3 series in the UK? If you look into it, you will notice that the 3 series is in fact more expensive, and that the prices dont directly transfer over 2 the US...

I don't think you're way off, SSAM, but it is widely opininated that the A3 3.2 is waaaaaaay overpriced... Also, the Audi has Quattro, which would hike the price a couple of thousand. I would be more inclined to think the basic 135i will slot in on par or just below the 328i at around $40 or $41K... But I could be wrong.

My hope is that a 128i or 130i is available in the $35,000 range...

Totally agree that we'll have a 123i, eventually, but I think, as a result, they'll drop the 323i from their lineup...

yeah, and i just read about the bmw 2.0ltr. turbo diesel putting out 204hp, certainly good output but the rev limits are much lower than the petrol motors- from what i've read they still don't provide the same sporting experience due to the narrow powerband.

I'm not sure that I understand what you are saying. What do you mean by narrow powerband? Do you mean the low maximum rpm?

yes, exactly. most commenters seem to miss the high revvability of the gas engines. i also like to rev high but haven't actually driven a diesel to compare for myself.

I've always wondered if the numbers on a tach of a diesel where replaced with what appears on a tach of a gas engine, if the person would really notice? I mean, with out knowing the exact rpm... but you know that you are nearing red line and need to shift from 1st to 2nd, do you care how fast the engine is spinning? For example, if you hit 45km/hr and you need to shift, does it matter if the engine is at 3000rpm or at 6500rpm?

To me it seems it just has to do with the gearing.

^yeah.. without having personal experience what i've gathered is just that you lose that (very fun and exhilirating) additional pull you get from being able to reach higher rpms in a petrol engine. which is the typical enjoyment of car enthusiasts as you mash the throttle all the way to redline around the track. personally, for a daily driver, i prefer low to midrange tuned performance - the type that i believe to be characteristic of a diesel.

tradeoffs, tradeoffs...

I very much doubt this. BMW has never used Brembo brakes, even on the M Cars. In fact, BMW still uses single-pistons on the M5 and M6. Why would the 135i all of a sudden get 6? Its unnecessary anyway. Give us typical BMW brakes instead of some fancy Brembo set up to lower the cost.

I've never owned a diesel, but even when I've been around them, I just don't like the way they sound. The idle is something I don't think I could ever get used to, and they don't sound as sweet through the gears, in my limited experience.

yeah, a very valid point. but apparently theyve been able to handle the idle sound problem in the 335d.. id just be interested to see what it sounds like through the powerband, bmw is pretty good about being concious of exhaust note but i really dont know how much you can do with a diesel.

Doubt all you want. That was one of the 3 points made during the presentation of the 1-series to BMW employees two weeks ago in Miami.

The Audi A3 and VW R32 come to my mind - even though they're both just modified GTi's...

there really isnt any true RWD car to compete with it....In my opinion, the mustang is a muscle car...I think that its closest competitors excluding the FWD cars will be the solstice and the sky...I know most ppl will be lik wtf is he thinking?! but they are RWD and they're both in in comparable pricing. A SKY redline is close to 29K w/o adding any options...
