Never noticed this: adjusting speed with CC

Perhpas this is in the manual, I just never noticed it. I was playing around with the cruise control (I don't get too much chance to try it living the the Bay area), and after it was set I was pulling and pushing on the stalk to adjust the speed. I saw the display increment 1mph for each pull/push. One time however I pulled harder and it adjusted 5mph. Pretty cool, works on pull and push.

BTW, I'm not sure what I did but I had braked and dropped my speed about 10mph. Thinking the CC was off, I pulled/pushed/clicked something by accident and I must have enabled the "resume" feature. The car took off like a bat out of hell and scared the sh!t out of me. Man, this car is quick!

I love this feature because it makes it easy to sit on a correct speed without having to fiddle with getting exactly on that speed when you engage the cruise.

What I do is go right up to the speed at which you get booked (an even 10km/h above the posted limit here) then do two little clicks to be 2 km/h below that speed, then I am all set...

__________________________________________________ __This reminds me that all my past BMW cars (U S spec) equipped with CC have moved in 1 kilometer increments in response to a tap of the stalk. The E-90 moves in 1 mph increments. From Jamie's post it appears that current 3-Series cruise control programing is market specific. Interesting if correct...

Another cool feature of the cruise that I just recently found out. if you keep the cruise control on while you go around a sharp corner the car will slow down in ratio to how steep the corner is. Then when you resume going straight it returns to the preset cruise speed.

Yes, first click is 1 km/h and going past the resistance point takes you to the nearest 10km/h increment.

This could be the DSC in action perhaps... I am going to give it a go now.

I am not kidding. It happened to me the other night. Was cruising on the highway @ 65 hit the offramp and as I went around the off ramp the car slowed down on its own with the cruise still on. The sharper the radius on the curve caused the car to slow down more. When I returned to straight speed picked back up. I was totally shocked!!

Do you love the lights that zooms around up to your speed or what? When I first saw this I literally said, "Oooo! Oooo! Oooo!".

Thanks Jamie. I think that confirms that the programing in AU is in kilometers and my experience with the U S spec. E-90 is that it is in mph. Previous U S spec BMWs were in kilometers.

You can change the units the car uses if you have iDrive. Not sure about when you don't.

In I-drive, you can switch between KPH and MPH (also mpg and l/km, etc). I am not sure if this will change how the C/C operates. I'll mess with it later.

Probably not DSC. I had DSC kick in when cruise control was active. DSC turned off the cruise control with an alert tone also.
