'06 118i Fuel Door locks with remote but not with central locking???

Hi everyone,

This is driving me nuts! My fuel flap door is constantly open and flaps in the wind while driving. It doesn't seem to lock with the central locking button on the dash or with the auto lock when you drive off. The puzzling thing is that it DOES lock with remote when I set the alarm!

I checked the fuse after reading a few other posts and it isn't blown. When I looked at the actual pin mechanism (the one that pops out to lock the fuel door), I noticed that the whole thing is popping out, not only the pin. In other words, the pin pops out together with what's supposed to be remaining behind. If that makes sense? I suppose a picture will explain better but anyway. If the actuator were faulty then it shouldn't be locking at all right?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
